You have to buy the entire panel that the flap is attached to - it comes as a unit. The part number is A2306903125 + your interior color code. For example, mine is black so it's color code 9E44. Here's the lowest price I've found for a new one:

It's not too difficult to replace. You remove the metal trim at the top of the B-pillar, then a screw that is sort of hidden under the large flap behind the panel, and a nut that you loosen underneath, access through the opening of that flap.

Look at the other flap. There is a spring there? See its position. Is it on the flap that does not work correctly? If it is still there you might be able to rig a fix for a dollar or two.

there are several threads using various methods where people have rigged up something to work instead of drop $300 on a new flaps.

The plastic gets brittle and crap starts breaking on them every 7 years or so (my 03 had the flaps replaced once by the previous owner and now both of them are starting to have issues again).

I'll end up spending the $300 to replace mine. Not only is the flap hinge broken, the MB-Tex on the panel is all wrinkled. All the MB-Tex on all the rear cover panels is aging, but this one happens to be the worst one, so I'll kill two birds with one stone with its replacement.

This just happens to be one of those little problems r230 owners have to put up with.the color your showing looks like stone beigh the spangler repair is a cheap fix, or look on e-bay and put in sl rear trim panel ,I think they had a stone color on the site. hope this helps

I rigged a piece of elastic to the flap spring which I got from the fabric store to the straight piece on the spring. I tied it to a large bolt/nut in the upper corner of the trunk which is visible with the lid all the way up. look way up in there. Tightly wrapped it will close the lid and act as a catch to keep the thing from blowing off the car. I did this as a safety deal do to forum messages about lost flaps but my flaps are ok.
