Dealer claim about 05 SL 600!
I know members have a lot more knowledge
about these SL's than I do so here is my question.
I went up auto trader to see what 2005 SL 600s are going for. I have one myself. Anyway, I found One on my search. It is a Jackson Mississippi Mercedes dealer who in the Ad says this is only one of seven in the nation!
Is this even close to the truth??

Probably only 7 for sale at the dealer, with all the records, or whatever he means.
Best place i'd look for a decent quote or idea of worth - cars.com

If the dealer's lips are moving ... he's lying.

According to a book I have () there were 1,106 produced in 2004 and 493 in 2005. This is by calendar year, not model year. Since model year production run April 2004 to March 2005 or thereabouts, I suspect that around 830 of those built in 2004 are MY2005s, and around 100 of those built in 2005 are 2005's.

Yes, it gives production by model for each year. Note that it's calendar year, not model year. It's a decent book, probably not really worth the price as it's not the highest quality printing and binding (looks like inkjet printing). I did not find any glaring faults in its information.

Actually, there were 4,016 SL600's built - you have to add the 230.476 and 230. 477 models. The SL65 only had 3,055 built, so besides the odd handful of SL320's, it wins the rarity contest.
There were only 169,433 R230's built over it's 12-year lifespan. That's less than the number of Camry's Toyota sells in the USA every six months.

Keep in mind that chart is not "sales", but "production". Those build in 2000 were likely "pre-production" test vehicles. Those built in 2001 would be sold as MY2002 cars, starting in summer 2001. What surprises me is how few MY2009+ facelift models were made. Assumming 2/3 of the 2008 builds were MY2009, that's less than 23,000 total.
