Does anyone know where I can get a replacement harness for inside the Bi- xenon headlights, the wire insulators are cracking and disintegrating and I don't want to buy a whole new headlight with igniters and ballasts for just a bad harness

Talon: you might consider "painting" the exposed wiring with Liquid Tape. Works.

heat cycling is the biggest cause combined with probably cheap wiring/insulation.. Mercedes used to have engine harness insulation issues pre-1995 or so, but they changed the processes since then and they no longer have those issues. The insulation on the wiring in the headlamps probably isn't as durable when compared to the newer engine wiring harnesses.
Also, if you dont think your headlamps get hot, turn on your lights (xenon/halogen) and hold your hand infront of the car on the lens and you will feel it get warm pretty quickly.

2005 R 230 SL350 (M112 3.7). Sold the 1966 W113 230SL recently
My headlights are crystal clear, like new. Should I do something about keeping them as clear in the (long)er run? I use anti freeze that explicitly states it is safe for plastic head lights. How about applying car wax?
(bi-xenons - can wax cause an irritating flare for head on traffic?)

Not sure about pre-cut , bu you can buy sheets of 3M clear-bra. Just so it on a nice, hot day. Let the clear bra and the car sit out in the sun for about 30 minutes, start at the center and stretch to the edges.

I understand that headlights are actually covered with clear coat. This guy shows how to restore the clear coat on the headlight. Look though videos on his channel for one with headlights.
