Angry 2003 SL55 Slow Wake Up

Hello

It seems that my SL55 is a bit of a slow starter. It needs some time to wake up before it starts. When I turn the ignition on, I get 4 error messages and it does not start. The error messages are below:

ESP - DISPALY FAULTY VISIT WORKSHOP
ABS - DISPLAY FAULTY VISIT WORKSHOP
ABC - DISPLAY FAULTY VISIT WORKSHOP
TRANSMISSION - VISIT WORKSHOP

If I leave the ignition on for about 3 minutes and turn the key again then it starts and there are no errors. once it has started then I can turn it off and start again immediately as long as the car does not go to sleep.

If I scan the car with my Launch diagnostic tool then I get the error below:

2030-004 CAN MESSAGE FROM CONTROL UNIT N15/5 IS MISSING OR FAULTY
P2037-004 NO 0R INCORRECT CAN MESSAGE FROM CONROL UNIT N15/3(ETC/EGS)
P2036-004 NO 0R INCORRECT CAN MESSAGE FROM CONROL UNIT N47/5(ESP)
P202F-004 CAN MESSAGE FROM CONTROL UNIT CGW OR EZS IS MISSING OR FAULTY OR NO OR INCORRECT CAN MESSAGE FROM CONTROL UNIT N51/2(ABC)

When the car starts then the only error that I get when I scan with my diagnostics tool is in the EIS(ignition):

8c,10,16,00 PLEASE RESEARCH BEFORE PROCEEDING - No idea what this means and how do I research this?

I found some corrosion on the front right SAM unit so I replaced it. Did not solve the problem. Found corrosion in the front passenger SAM, Cleaned SAM but problem persists. I decided to check the canbus connectors so I removed both seats. Found lots of water under the drivers side carpets(its a right hand drive car).I have a very blocked Aircon drain. No water under the passenger seat carpets but both passenger and drivers side canbus connectors had some corrosion. Cleaned corrosion but this did not solve the problem. I check the voltages high and low can on the brown and red canbus connectors and I get 11,5V and 0,45V when sleeping and 4,5V and 0,65V when I turn on the ignition or start the car.

I checked the voltage coming from the ignition switch to the green/white campus connector and its around 2,51V at sleep. if I open the door or switch on the ignition then it jumps a little to around 2,8V. Not sure if this is correct.

I checked the rear SAM unit for corrosion and its clean.

My EIS has been repaired before by a previous owner at a local Indie. I removed the EIS and took it back to the same local Indie who repaired it before and he says that its working fine, but im not so sure.

It seems that all the ECU's on CAN C are not waking up and the wake signal has to come from the EIS.

Can I assume that it is the EIS or could it be something else? Net sure where else to look.

Anything else I should check?

Please help? The EIS is very expensive so I don't want to replace it unless its absolutely necessary.

Regards,

JohnDG

Before going any furthur, check the health of your consumer Battery in the trunk. A Dieing battery will cause all sorts of malfunctions.

Both batteries are new and I did check that they were fully charged before I checked wiring again yesterday. This error has got me stumped. Tonight I'm going to disconnect one ECU at a time and start the car to see if I can find a faulty ECU.

Not sure if it could be the Central Gateway? How would I test the Central Gateway?

Thanks for you response.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
If it's not voltage related, then its a CAN bus problem. Often it is the EIS that is the culprit.

Any update did you cure it?

i have similar fault but all the wake up modules are fine and act quickly, but I keep getting P1925 drive authorisation denied N15/5 ESM and intermittent lack of gear display on the dash.

Gradually got worse.
I can get engine to run if relay L is bypassed so that ECU is ok.
Tried different batteries

ESM changed still the same.
All CANBUS X connectors and SAM modules spotless.
car lives in garage ......only 37k miles.

Driving me nuts !!!

Any help with further tests I can do would be gratefully received

I'm having a problem with my Star Diagnosis and can not look up the troubleshooting steps recommended to resolve fault P1925. But you can download Star Diagnosis for free and run it in simulation mode to learn those steps. But you'll have to send me a PM for me to supply you with the link.

I got my Star Diagnosis working, and in retrospect it isn't needed. The tell is the inconsistent gear display in the cluster, and that suggests a faulty ESM. Also, you mention a new ESM. Perhaps you did not go through the initialization process with Star Diagnosis which marries it to your vehicle's Drive Authorization System. For this the ESM must be brand new or be somehow "virginized".
