Roof flap replacement

Afternoon everyone,

Sorry if this is a topic elsewhere, but somehow (I have no idea how), one of the hinged roof flaps that cover the brackets of the roof has disappeared in my SL 350.

Does anyone know if you can get the hinged cover as a spare part?

Photo attached of the space that has been left!

Thanks!

AY

small flap

Common headache, plastic shaft pins break and it flies off. You need to buy the whole assembly but there was a member who had 3D printed some. Other members may reply. When I first read about this in the forum I got out and secured mine with some elastic to bolts in the upper trunk area to be sure this did not happen. So far so good.

I just found a guy on ebay who makes this part on a 3 D printer. I ordered it and will let you know once I receive it.

I got a replacement at a nearby salvage yard for less than the 3D printed version, and of course the vinyl cover matched. Very easy to take off the larger panel and insert the new flap.

Actually ...I am positive that I have that flap
Is it the LH definitely and in black
I found the flap in the door pocket after I used the replacement system I posted.

Anybody got instructions on how to install this flap? Do you need to remove the entire panel?

Yes, you need to remove the panel. It's fairly easy:
