Ride Height Calibration
The dealership suggested that My 08 SL550 needs a ride height calibration, but the quote was in conjunction with other suspension repairs, excluding the ABC, I was quoted $3000. I’m doing the suspension repairs with my local mechanic, do you know how much they charge for just calibration? It’s a little bit lower on the front passenger side.

Search the forums for ‘Romess Values or Angles’ which are the settings you calibrate for heights.
It is only pushing buttons on the Star (SDS) and measurements to check the work. Pretty simple and not much time.
Another example of why every MB owner should have a Star.

I’m already working towards getting my own Star, I’ve already purchased two Dell D630 that I found locally for almost nothing, but I’m leaning towards an out of the box system. I’ve already contacted a seller from AliExpress, to put something for me together. In the meantime, I also purchased the iCarSoft, which actually fixed something for me...

I second the STAR recommendation. I recently had the exact same problem and was able to fix it with nothing but the software in about 20 minutes (those STAR systems take a while to boot up).

Finally!
I’ve finally ordered the MB Star Diagnosis last night, I was promised that they’ll assist me in activating it, hopefully before I receive it, I would have replace the front lower control arms.

I’ve successfully completed the cloning of the hard drive they sent me with an SSD. To my surprise, it booted fine, now I’m waiting for the seller to do a TeamViewer remote session with me for activation, as promised 🤔

You mean a serial #? Activation for what. I have developer mode on mine- it's just a key.

It doesn’t have ride height calibration, I don’t want to lower my car, which this write up have, I just wanted to level my car. My front passenger side is leaning slightly. I’ve already taken it to the dealership and they recommended calibration and not ABC pump 😱

Hi kemzo,
do you mind if I ask where you bought your DAS system and price? I am reluctant to send $$ to china without any due diligence. My plan is to buy a Star DAS kit with ssd and replace my hdd on an dell I own.
Thanks in advance.

For those asking - I bought from this seller https://www.ebay.com/sch/electr0nics...72.m2749.l2654
I chose him mainly because the listing said he was a US seller, but the laptop ended up coming directly from China. Other than that everything was pretty much as described. I opted for a STAR C4 Panasonic toughbook because I wanted it to be robust around the shop. They are more expensive than the Dell 630 ones but whatever. Paid about 1k even with shipping and tax for Laptop, multiplexer, and wiring for just about every conceivable Mercedes (they don't all use OBDII). Hardware works well, the only hardware issue is that the laptop battery doesn't hold much of a charge but it really doesn't bother me too much since I run it plugged in mostly. Based on my experience I would have no problem dealing with this seller again.
I think you could get a better value using a self sourced laptop, as the Dell 630 and my Panasonic are pretty slow to boot up, but for me, a simple ready to go solution was the most important thing
Hope this helps,
Matt

My Dell D630 that I keep in the garage has 8gb of RAM and a 256GB Samsung SSD.. It boots fast enough, but I also keep it plugged in (on docking station) and in "Standby".
