Is this normal? ('waves' in dash material near glovebox)
Hey all,
Figured I'd ask about this, as it's something I've seen in a number of cars that otherwise look to be in great shape:

MBWorld Fanatic!
They put the steering wheel on the wrong side?!
The side part you show unclips easily from the top, you can always buy another one.

Not sure on the fix, replacement is more likely to be successful.
If I were to fix it, I would pull it out, peel back the fabric, apply a good upholstery adhesive, slap it back together and pray it holds for another 15 years.
Replacement with a 'newer' used version might last 5-10 years.
Replacement with a new MB unit might last 15, but cost an arm and leg.
Last - ignore it and go for a drive!

My experience with replacement trim pieces is not great. Not all interior colors are available from MB. So check if your particular color (there are multiple places that would list color based on the VIN) is still available. Mine (stone) is no longer available. Just checking online may not be enough. I got order accepted for some trim parts in my color, and then got e-mail from the dealer, that they can not get them in the color specified. That said, repair is easy. Before working on the trim, I suggest you put some clear packaging tape over the exposed edge of the trim, this way glue spots will be on the tape, not on the trim (ask me how I know).
