I repaired some torn wiring that was giving me an SDS error so picked up the NT510 Elite in part to clear that but also to have something that is a bit more robust than my cheap Bluetooth OBD2 scanner that could only get to the engine module. So far, I'm very happy with it... cleared the SDS code without problems and pulled/cleared the other historic codes still lingering after past repairs. I know it's not an SDS replacement, but the cost ($250 CAD all in) is also far lower, so I'm satisfied with that tradeoff.
One question, though... there appear to be at least a few calibrations/resets that it can do (steering angle sensor calibration, crankshaft position relearn...). Is there any harm or any benefit to doing these apart from related mechanical repairs? I don't expect that there's much danger, but if there's room for some optimization in how the car is working I'd like to capitalize on that now that I have the tool.

I'm primarily an Apple man, but I do have a Windows desktop and Surface Pro tablet. Unfortunately, if you have a Mac, sooner or later, you're going to need a Windows computer. I used to use Parallels, but decided (for my needs) to get a Windows computer, as well. (FWIW, I have both an iPad and Android tablet, as well.)

So, as mentioned, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". However, there is a video on resetting the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) that seems like it could be beneficial to refresh the learning process for your driving style.

Foxwell NT510 Elite of NT530?
Any suggestions on which one to get. I am not very mechanical, so likely not going to do much work myself, but if I buy one of these, I felt I might as well buy a decent one. The sticky on the Elite is very informative, but I was wondering if the NT530 superseded it.
Many thanks Dennis

Seems mostly physical differences between the two. I have the 510 Elite and am very happy with it. Also bought additional firmware for BMW/Mini and Audi/VW.

Yes, that seems to be the case. They still sell the 510 on Amazon but Foxwell's own website doesn't even show it as product any more and it looks like they're selling all of the remaining 510s on Amazon. That makes me wonder how long they will still support the 510 once all of the remaining units are sold. I don't know what the difference in capabilities is but you want to keep a scanner and use it long term, you may be better off buying a 530.
Hopefully someone else can chime in here and point out the differences in the 510 and the 530.
