Hi , thanks for the reply . , do you have part numbers and pics of these please, its why i started this thread to ask if they were available , shame you didnt answer before i did the job ,lol .
I searched for them and couldnt find any for reference, did you go to main dealer ?
What do they drive like , any stiffer, longer lasting , taller ??
Also the east coast euro mounts are amazing. You will feel a VERY slight vibration (saying this because I have some OCD and most people won’t notice) but you can change them out fairly easily after initial install
Did you do this yourself , what part numbers did you use ? I ask because the mounts on the link appear to be just OE std ones !
I would probably make my own now after having done this job already , rather than buy the bolted together aftermarket ones ive seen , im also not worried about vibration as i fully intend to kick my cars head in when its done on track .
Todays progress... Drop link now located , High tensile Bolts holding the ARB in , 8mm Alloy plate to lower bar from sump Lower control arm to drop link location , needs a ball joint
Your doing a terrific job of documenting your work on your SL55 AMG.
Please would you provide exact dimensions of the "8mm Alloy plate to lower bar from sump", such as width, length and position and size of holes in the alloy plate.
I have been wondering if the 8mm thickness will allow sump clearance with the standard SL350 front bar?
Thanks , i looked for similar posts and there werent any so im glad my ramblings are helping . Once all the parts are fitted and the car lowered back onto the ground i think the bar will have a good few MM of clearance , luckily the lower the car the more clearance you get as it lifts the bar in an arc !
Hi George , were on lockdown here right now so i havent ordered the Ball joints to finish the job , hopefully i'll pick up with this in a few weeks tho as i cant wait to use the car now . Im sure the spacer blocks will work out , i think the key will be how low i run the car as the more the drop links are forced up the greater the space !

Hi Tony, yes we are in similar situation. Such awful times.........hope you keep well.
No rush, so when things get better, I look forward to hearing of your progress........George
Honed the Control arm out just a fraction and the Ball joints fit like they should ! So on with re-fitting everything back to where it should be , i have actually reaplced the 8mm Plates with a lsightly thicker 10mm plate , this is absolutley the max that you can get in without massive re-jigging of the subframe , an ease with a Dremmel in places helps get the bolts in and out too , area marked in feint black pen .
Shaded area .... Shiny New Engine mount visible too ! Annoyingly it looks like the At rest position means that the drop links need to be about 2" longer to avoid it resting on the sump .
Rear engine mount? There are only two engine mounts, a left and a right, and one trans mount. The trans mount is very different from the 2 engine mounts

As far as I know there are 2 engine mounts and one transmission mount. I've owned three R230s and about 23 other Benzos. Creative Steel website if you look up engine mounts for an R230 they show two engine mounts. RockAuto website as well, shows two mounts for the engine: left, and right. FCPeuro website shows kits with engine and trans mounts, that include 2 engine mounts (left, right) and a transmission mount. Every time I purchase a used Mercedes, which is all of them, as it's insane to buy new (unless you're dripping in Mega Millions money), I always replace engine and trans mounts in the first week or two. This way, I know they are new and I'm good for around 5-7 years on those parts. I have never seen one yet that has a third engine mount. Mercedes engine mounts are a consumable part, not designed to last as long as we might like them to, because they are hydraulic, oil-filled units that give the signature smoothness that Mercedes are famous for, therefore they do wear out after approximately 7-10 years or 75-100K miles. They don't cost a whole lot and are usually easy to replace, unless you have a V12. I have an indy mechanic who's replaced about ten cars' worth of mounts, he always does it about an hour or two faster than "book", and charges between 300 and 450 dollars. He's never had to disconnect exhaust, etc., on any of the R230s to do this job either. If a "third" engine mount on any R230 does exist, I'm sure someone on here who knows more than we do, will chime in to help shed some light for us. That "rear engine mount, low" must be the transmission mount, but it is technically called a transmission mount, so I have no idea why they would call it an engine mount. It is shaped different than the engine mounts. If you look at FCPeuro website and see the kits they sell, you can see what the trans mount looks like. It is very easy to replace, much easier than the engine mounts. I've had engine mounts come out of cars looking totally worn out, and had them come out looking new. I've had them come out looking okay when the trans mount was the one that was all crushed looking. I think people neglect to replace the mounts, not realizing that they are consumable, and sometimes might replace the engine mounts without replacing the trans mount. Best to replace all three at once. Lemfoerder and Corteco are good brands, as well as FEBI Bilstein, they are all good. FCPeuro also has Black Series engine mounts, they cost more...
