suspension noise

2003 Sl500

Had strutmaster- replaced all 4 struts and went back to ABC- both with strutmaster and ABC there is a rattling noise coming from the passenger side when going over bumps- not when you go over one bump but when you hit a roadway going over a bunch of bumps

I checked all the controls arms and bushings and it looks fine- is there a insert/bushing on the top/bottom of the car that the strut goes into? The sound is similar to like putting a penny into a small can and shaking it around- again this is only apparent going over many small bumps

On early R230s the polyurethane (?) inside the lower control arm bushings was a bit too soft. This would cause noise when traversing gravel and other irregular surfaces. This was rectified with a harder bushing.

Possibly your car has the soft bushing. I know that cars as late as spring 2002 production had the soft bushing, still later cars may as well.
