Trunk Flap Vinyl Repair Recos (Pic included)

Hi folks. The edges of the vinyl covering my trunk flaps (where they fold behind the panel and are secured with adhesive) have become brittle with age/not conditioned and have actually split and the adhesive failed. I colored the edges with black marker so it doesn’t look so bad. Any recommendations on how to recover or repair? Thanks in advance!

Has no one experienced the vinyl coming undone from the edges of their roof flaps? I’m looking for a permanent fix. Thanks in advance.

Had it happen to my old SL but it had leather covered panels. Just purchased new ones. They are not cheap. Tried to find someone who could recover but the job they did not look anything like the original.

Thank you! I saw them on eBay, but didn’t want to spend stupid money on them.

What other answer? From an experienced DIY R230 owner, something like “yeah, I found vinyl covering X available in a Y sized sheet from supplier Z. You simply cut just larger than actual size and use adhesive A and it looks just like factory. Worked for me”. That would be a constructive answer. Just because it’s an expensive car doesn’t mean you have to blow your wad and not use your brain. I’ve saved thousands of dollars using the DIY experience of others. It’s only prohibitively expensive to own if you make bad decisions and/or are lazy.

This is the closest I could find. Might be worth getting a sample to compare. Vinyl Fabric

Let me add that it would be worth the effort to try a DIY. Like I said, those pieces are very expensive and you may be able to make it look good.
