I got this warning when my consumer battery had low voltage. It went away after the battery was charged back up.

When there is a fault code or message for a component I'll guess that more often than not there is nothing wrong with the component in question. This is one reason to avoid wasting money it is important to do some basic troubleshooting in such instances rather than immediately reaching for a new part. In this case the problem could simply be a blown fuse.

Yes and no. Fuses don't just blow, they are there to protect the component and if they go open, it was for an outside reason. I will say that most of the time, there is a defective part, but proper diag will prevent you from throwing 4 parts in there to get the one that actually failed. Wiring connector/harness issues can happen but are much more uncommon.

I do not wish to be pedantic, Joe, but having done some electrical design in my career I can state with confidence that fuses generally exist to protect electrical wiring -- not components.

True, it's so the wiring doesn't overheat and cause a fire. But you know what I mean, the problem is almost always NOT just the fuse.

I've have this warning for over a year- didnt care until I started getting other malfunction errors for blown tail light and brake bulbs. Light sensor message came up even after changing the both the main and consumer battery- I bought the part used from Ebay for $15

Lifted the hood last night and it looks like an easy fix- take off a few screws for the mesh cover and it's right there- you can actually see the sensor from the top of the hood.

Replaced the part- pretty easy- lift the hood, remove 4 screws and take the cover off. Be careful not to break the plastic

Remove light sensor and replace

Spoke to soon- error message still there

what is the fuse location for this sensor?

Update- looks like its fuse 47 on the passenger side fuse box- fuse looks good

Maybe a bad sensor- it was used after all- dont know- will take to shop- so annoying
