ROOF STUCK!!
I have an '05 SL500 and I just replaced my trunk flap supports. Made sure everything was tight - operated the roof and now it's stuck!!! The flaps did not activate at all! Did I blow a fuse or something?? Trunk is up and top is almost folded completely. I'm trying to do
preventative maintenance and this happens!! Any advice? Thanks!!

I think I've found the culprit! My wires connecting the driver's side flap to the trunk somehow disconnected!!!! And now its difficult to connect them! I may have to take the whole flap mechanism off, put it back on, and see if that works. Any
other suggestions??

Well, I got the wires hooked back up by cutting the zip ties - I cranked the car and now the pump is trying to operate but no movement!! And it won't shut off! My flap on the driver's side has all of a sudden become disengaged and it flops! So I disconnected the trunk battery
so I won't damage the pump. I guess a tow truck and to the dealer I go!!

This could be a really easy fix. And why the tow truck? Because whatever pump it is that you are referring to is easily disabled by pulling a fuse or control relay.

the top will either go up or down. The roof is not completely stored in the "Easy Pack" position, and I can't move it manually at all. Otherwise I can close the trunk to where it's not in the air!

I already have it! My situation is page 15 (Microswitch S69/11 Open). It also says you cant reverse it! I have the iCarSoft for Mercedes but i heard it can't reset either. So I guess i'm stuck!

Quick question, Forum - can i release the pressure in the hydraulic pump to allow me to stow the roof completely and lower the trunk so I can at least drive it to the dealer? Thanks for all your inputs!!

Yes. Open the bypass valve with a good (steel) allen key. The valve deceivingly looks like it’s holding that plastic cover but it isn’t.

Thank you!! Also, does the fuse that controls the pump actually connects to any other gear? I intend to pull the fuse (where is it?) once I release pressure so I won't be able to accidently operate the roof. Thanks again, Forum!!

You’ve got a smarttop module in there (and a not so neatly arranged set of wires). When you take the car too the dealer I’d recommend you switch off that module, as if it isn’t there. It has that option, in your dash display. The smarttop changes roof (and other) settings while activated.

I switched the SmartTop Module off BEFORE I operated the roof JUST IN CASE something like this happened. Not concerned about neatness now - wanna get my top operational again. Thanks again for your inputs!
