Brabus SL Kit w/ lighted side sills (pictures)

Well... finally got the lights installed in the Brabus door sills - the dealer forgot to install them the first time around. The underneath lighting is stock on the Brabus Body Kit for the SL. In fact, it is the only body kit in the Brabus line to feature the under the car lighting. I have it tied into the keyless entry, so anytime you disarm the car or open the door handle they turn on... a further trick is I have it tied to the daytime / nighttime sensor, so they will only light from dusk on... just like the headlights. ohh... and did I mention they are also tied into the dome lights, so depending on the setting you have they do a cool slow fade out after 15, 20 or 30 seconds. They look extremely cool at night. The valets in Philly are just baffled when you get out of the car.... I've tried to include a variety of shots, so you can see what they look like. They are very small blue LED lights. You can see from the underneath shot just how they appear through the underneath part of the side sills.

It has no effect on the warranty. Remember, these are not an add-on (like lighted doors sills, etc.)... they are a part of the Brabus side skirts, so there is no need for drilling, etc. There are four holes on each skirt that the installer just pops the lights into and then wires it into the cars convience lightning. As for the install - it probably takes an hour or two. However, keep in mind that these are not available via the aftermarket - they are only available as part of buying the Brabus side skirts - which go for about $1,650.00 + painting and install. More importantly, the side skirts probably only fit correctly when married with the Brabus Front bumper and Rear Bumper, which adds another $5,000 or so.... + painting and install. I had the whole pkg. done for about $7,000 and change....

You can buy the LED lights separately now and install them onto the regular SL sideskirts, thus saving you about $1k.

Yeah.... but you would have to cut four holes in each of the door sills... sounds a bit messy and risky to me....

Noooo!

I think it looks rice. Ugly cars need lights and things to detract the eyes from the ugliness. I don't think this car needs lights or anything; it's perfect already. I think that any additions should be accents to accenuate the car's beauty and not to detract from it. It really boils down to what you want because it's your car in the end and this is only my humble opinion.
