Hello all,

Before I provide the feedback on this update, I want to refresh the history of those ABC modifications offered by Peter. In July of last year, I was one of the first people who tried this on 09 SL550. It took 10 minutes for Peter to flash ABC module on my car and results were phenomenal. Compared to stock ABC, the entire car changed its personality; much stiffer behaviour in cornering, increased steering sensitivity on higher speeds, etc. Basically, I got almost a true sport car out of ordinary Sl550. There are multiple people on this forum who enjoy this update and there is a separate thread on this.

Now, yesterday I was a lucky one who received the next generation of this update and I cannot express my feeling on it, I am speechless)
  1. The steering became MUCH MORE sensitive even on slower speed.
  2. Somehow, SBC behaviour is changed and it is extremely sharp. The feel of brake pedal was quite soft on my car and many people on the forum mentioned that. With that ABC update, brakes work instantly with much less foot pressure. The car stops super fast with no nose diving or any kind of body movements.
  3. Steering on the high speeds is even more AGGRESSIVE and PRECISE! It feels to me that I am in a race car in terms of handling.

So far, it’s been a day of testing and I cannot be happier. If anyone needs more information, please let me know.

And as usual, thank you Peter for this true gem!!!

Does the car drive firmer while cruising down the interstate and normal driving, does it retain the stock ride?

On the freeways and in the city, the normal driving is a bit firmer but not much. The beauty of this update is mostly noticeable in any type of manoeuvring such as lane changing or driving in winding roads with sharp turn, freeway ramps. The car feels glued to the road, doesn’t lean even slightly.

I have been driving Peters P30 since June last year ( I test drove it, before release ) and P30 was a nice upgrade from stock ABC, but not a revolution in driving experience. At least that is what I feel now, after Peter installed DTM. THAT is a driving experience that you don’t want to miss.

If you are a speed addict, don’t do it, you will lose your driving license. It’s addictive, the car WANTS to go, be driven fast, like it was on the racetrack. It is like glued to the road.

It is not just an ABC program, it does changes to both ECU, SBC and SCN as well.

ABC : The ride is a step up in comparison to P30, but still comfortable, when you drive calm. ABC tighten up the suspension to hard, when you drive like you stole it. Potholes and uneven road it tighten up suspension compared with P30. My gut feeling is it allows higher G forces, and it is more driver oriented than P30, taking back on ESP, ABS, and TRC.

ECU : The throttle response is more aggressive and linear, Ignition timing has changed, probably also the variable cam timing, the engine has got more bottom end torque, and really delivers power through a broader band and on top of that my exhaust got a different more aggressive note ( I run a 3” full SS BIG CAT system + stage 1 tune ).

SCN : The tranny shifts more aggressive, the tranny stay in lower gears for longer before shifting up, when you drive with constant speed. It shifts up and down faster in general.

SBC : The brakes responds to the slightest touch of the pedal, a much more linear feel on brake force, which is nice when driving fast, and the suspension keep the car level at all times and maneuvers.

My impression is that this is a complete track program we got here, and although some components would be different on a track car, my SL 550 do perform wonderful with the DTM software.

No comment needed, I believe.

I joined the club, got a complete refresh of my diagnostic software. Flawless install from BenzNinja, everything works perfectly.
Nothing compares to the value club membership offers from BenzNinja. Highly recommend his expert service and knowledge available 24x7 for club members.

Peter also updated my P30 firmware to the DTM ABC modification. This is a absolute must upgrade for all SL owners.
Previous post from upgraded SL owners are spot on. After driving my SL660, it's a totally different car.
This DTM upgrade transformed my SL into the performance car I've always wanted. Flat and level in the most aggressive driving. The car begs to be challenged and never fails to deliver.

Awesome driving experience.....Thank you BenzNinja. As always, you deliver the goods.

I haven't done this mod yet with my SLs, but BenzNinja has helped me by remotely diagnosing all four of my MBs. Whether you're considering this mod or just need help clearing an issue you're having with your car, he's professional and knowledgeable. Most importantly, I trust him.

2011 SL R230 Summer fun car only
It's all true!

I have today had the DTM upgrade applied to my 2011 SL500, after a 30 mile spirited drive on winding A roads in Sport mode I can submit the following review, you'll excuse the somewhat excited wording but jeepers 🤗
IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY!........JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH!......In 30 years of building and modifying cars I have never seen such impressive performance improvements. Not sure how but the upgrade affects several systems, all for the better.
Clearly the 7gtronic box has forgotten its lazy ford granada esq granny mode of the past and decided to come to life, the power and torque is available instantly.......all of it, I'm running a Celtic Tuning remap, manifolds sports cats and exhaust, a good improvement on stock already but my goodness, the transmission improvement feels like an extra 50hp, throttle response instant. Gear shift in S virtuality instant. The steering is nothing short of Caterham 7 style (No really) almost 2 tons of car now corners like a house fly! Virtuality zero body roll in ABC comfort mode with a much smoother ride, in ABC Sport mode its nothing short of race car performance and still a better ride comfort than stock in my view, the car feels planted to the road. The brakes are incedible, I mean not just a wee bit better, it feels like an AP racing conversion! good enough to rearrange your internal organs, I'm amazed, I have fallen in love with my SL R230 again. I can't believe it's the same car actually, this is what an SL should have been like from the factory, it is still a classy, comfortable cruiser with great ride quality but when you want to be a hooligan (ish) or silence your good Lady wife boy it can go...
Next up fully adjustable suspension arms to perfectly fine tune the alignment and compliment the DTM upgrade.
I must recommend this upgrade to any SL R230 owner who likes unbelievable bang for your buck, my remap cost more money and didn't come close to feeling this good.
Mr benzninja is undoubtedly a technical genius with these cars, all done remotely in no time at all, he even squirted software updates to any modules that needed it ( except engine ecu, it would have removed my remap) and gave the car a clean bill of health. His communication is great as is customer service, I shall be taking advantage of his many Mercedes skills in the future.
....Anyhow.. Sun is shining....I'm off out for a blast....😎

Boy, has that rig been cleaned weekly with a toothbrush? Respect!
I doubt the squirrel story, because of the hedgehog to the far right of that 2nd picture.

Perfect timing, as the SL is about to come out of winter hibernation. Very excited to test this out.

Couple of questions:

-This is not a factory Mercedes ABC tune but a custom one, correct?

-Is it just ABC software that is modified? Some of the posts are referencing changes to SBC, timing, throttle response, etc.

This an upgrade befitting my 2008 S65?

Such a thing may keep me from replacing it with a 222 car.

Also.... Your software for laptop.... Will it help sniff out an intermittent misfire that doesn’t make a code?

If if so I will send the laptop for a two-fer.
