Metal clip that holds the turn signal lamp to the mirror housing

2003 Mercedes SL, R230 turn signal lamp on the mirrors fastened with the connector and 1 metal clip that sits on the turn signal lamp..

Any here on the forum that knows if the metal clip that holds the turn signal lamp to the mirror housing comes with the new turn signal indicator lamp?
I have checked several places on the internet and all new turn signal lamps are not pictured with the clip installed on the lamp

The turn signal lamps on my car sits fastened with the electric connector and the metal clip that sit on the turn signal lamp

Below is a picture that shows both the lamp and the metal clip

The red arrows points to the metal clip that holds the turn signal lamp in place on the mirror housing

Here is a picture of the turn signal lamp for the mirrors but the metal clips is not installed

Thanks for posting Plutoe But no spring is shown in the Mercedes Electronic spare parts catalogue online

Any of my fellow member here that have any old turn signal lamps with the metal clips included for the left side and right hand side mirrors for sale?
if the turn signal lamps are cracked or broken it does not matter as long as the metal clips is on the lamps

It is the type shown in the picture below

This is the mirror mounted turn signal lamps with the metal clip i need. So if any have some old lamps laying around for sale please let me know

This was changed to a screw-in design for '04 and beyond. It uses the boss just behind the clip slot on the new light you show in the picture. WIS has the dimensions to drill the hole on '03 housings. The clip is obsolete and won't be supplied with replacement lights.

Interesting that they didn't change the P/N and that they kept the mounting for the clip even though they don't include it.

I re used the old clip. I've no idea why I took that picture, I must have puzzled over why they were different too.

I know about the screw. The screw is even on the parts film. But there is no hole in the mirror housing for the screw on my car

But it should not be much work drilling a hole in the mirror housing for the screw

But to use the screw i will have to take off the mirror and also pull off the mirror housing i guess?

I do not have the "raised" area or the hole on the mirror on my car as seen on the mirror housing on the picture below

The mirror housing on the picture is brand new and in the color is the same color as my car. It is for sale quite cheap but they only have the left side. If they had both sides i might have bought it

I guess that if i drill a hole i will be able to secure the turn signal using the screw even if i do not have the "raised area" on the mirror housings on my car

I suppose the hole in the mirror housing is for the screw that secures the turn signal indicator to the mirror housing?

WIS has dimensions for drilling the hole. I think you can just remove the mirror and position the mirror mounting plate out of the way.

Since i do not have the raised pad on the mirrors i think that it might be a big gap in between the turn signal lamp and the mirror housing on my car?
What do you think?

I can say one thing for sure and that is that there will not be any carbon style mirrors on my car. If so i will have them painted the same color as the car

Below is a picture of the right side mirror on my SL with the turn signal lamp out

You can see that i do not have the raised pad as on the picture below of the right side mirror on my car

This is the right side mirror on my SL and you can see that the raised pad where the hole for the screw to fasten the turn signal lamp is not the mirrors on my car

This mirror have the raised pad with the hole for the turn signal lamp. This mirror is a picture i found on ebay

I am very pleased with how the original mirrors look on my car but i think the mirrors on the picture below is exact the same size and shape as the original mirrors
So if these facelift mirrors that comes with the turn signal lamps are not larger but the same size as the originals they can be used

Smile

I want to follow up this topic to let you know that i got the clips that fastens the turn signals to the mirror housings

I phoned at least 5 different Mercedes dealers and asked about the clips at the parts divisions at these dealers and everybody told me that the clips for fasten the the turn signal lamps to the mirrors is not possible to get

Luck have it that i have a friend that works at a Mercedes dealer and he also works in the parts store
When i asked him about the clips he told me he should check it up and phone me back
And so he did. A couple of hours after i talked to him the first time he phoned me and told me that he had ordered the fastener clips from Mercedes in Germany

The thing is that it took my friend some time to find these clips having to email Mercedes Germany a few times to get to talk the correct people there.

No problem now i have the clips and also new turn signal lamps

The point here is that people who works at the parts store at Mercedes do not bother to take the time to try to find the parts.

Since i am a friend of him he did take his time to get me the clips Had i not known this person i probably would not have the clips

Here is the clips i got 2 of today thanks to the fact that i know the person at the parts store at Mercedes
