SL500 Professionally detailed
Had the SL500 detailed...
Also had the 10 year clear bra applied to stop stone chips. I had the few swirl marks removed and the car sealed. The car is a hanger queen, only has about 7800 miles on it.

You might want to rethink the clear bra thing. Unless you did the whole hood you only created a new area beyond the bra that changes color due to UV rays and a permanent line of rock chips and deep scratches. How would I know? I removed the clear bra on the front of my car and after professional detailing it’s still quite visible. Before the paint is noticeably changed do yourself a favor and have it removed

The newer stuff should be better I would assume.

Your missing one large fact.
It doesn’t matter what bra is used. Unless it’s covering the entire hood you’re going to have a lot of scratches on that unprotected part of the hood and there will be a discoloration between coated surface and uncoated surface. It’s inevitable regardless of what you have; unless it’s the entire hood. It will look very noticeable the longer it is on the car

21 years. Paint on an RX7 that old is either in need of multiple cut polishes which will leave an edge (a definite ridge in the paint) where the clear bra stops or it's a museum piece that doesn't see daylight and normal conditions and has never had paint correction.
Just like All non bra cars, cars with bras get scratches. IF you keep a bra on long enough and drive it where and how most real people do, you Will get it scratched to the point it must be cut polished. When that happens it Will leave a noticeable ridge at the edge of the bra.
Fortunately you either don't drive like (where and how) the general public or you live and drive within a 3 mile radius of a rural community.
Either way I salute you for caring about the condition of your car and hope your car doesn't need paint correction any time soon
Good Luck

"Or you just take care of your cars, don't tailgate and don't drive on gravel ridden roads."
Besides using a clear bra and Pixie dust, sounds like there are no other vehicles, dirt, rain, blistering sun, rain, ice, snow or anything that might cause scratches, dents 98% of the rest of owners put up with. Which brings me to wonder with 100,000 miles plus and perfect paint why did you put a bra on your car again?

There's a reason for this...
My 1993 60,000 plus mile RX-7.

How you take care of them makes a big difference in how they stay beautiful, and in great running condition. I make sure to never park in ordinary car parking spaces, that'll get you in the ding-a-day club. My SL600, SL550 and my Maserati haven't been in the wet in three years, actually longer. Ever since I've owned them. For rain conditions and worse, I have a Mercedes GL450 SUV and an S550.
