DVD Movies in 2005 SL?
I will be receiving my 2005 SL 500 in the coming weeks. Right now, I am reading the operator's manual for the car and the navigation system. The manual for the navigation system does not say anything about being able to play "movie DVDs"; however, I am almost positive that I read somewhere that "movie DVDs" could be played. Can anyone out there confirm that the 2005 SL 500 DVD navigation system plays "movie DVDs"?
Thanks to all who respond.

quite a coincidence!
I was just about to post the following!
----------------------------
The DVD COMMAND system on my 05 SL is a big improvement over the one in my 03 SL. But, while it plays the audio portion of movie DVD's well enough, it will not display video on the screen. A warning stating that the "video is being faded out to keep the driver from being distracted" appears. But there are at least 6 or 7 options to control video characteristics in COMMAND so I know it is video capable. Any ideas as to how one might defeat the "video faded out" warning to get on screen images?

On the '05 SL, the DVD player for the navigation system is located in the trunk.
The COMAND system in the cabin is capable of playing DVDs, but the video function is disabled.
A couple of weeks ago, I thought I'd test the audio-only capabilities of the DVD player in the '05 COMAND. I tossed in a DVD-video disk (The Grateful Dead-- The Closing of Winterland, December 31, 1978, which I highly recommend). As expected no video. But unexpectedly, I was unable to hear the soundtrack or to access any of the tracks directly using the COMAND.
Undeterred, I purchased a DVD-Audio disk to play in the COMAND (Grateful Dead, American Beauty, which I highly recommend). As I recall, I was able to navigate the disk and listen to individual tracks, but I was not blown away by the sound quality. I don't think the COMAND is fully DVD-Audio compatible.
