2007 R230 - Wondering about Glass Vario Roof
Hello:
I have the solid roof. I was wondering if it is a drop-in replacement to get a roof that is glass? Just wondering how easy it would be to switch to a roof with glass top instead of a solid one.
Thanks

You would have to source a used roof in your color preferably, and get it installed. It would also require the correct interior color as well. If it sounds like it may be expensive, it probably will be. Anything with the top is costly and time consuming.

2005 R 230 SL350 (M112 3.7). Sold the 1966 W113 230SL recently
Someone did it and posted on one of the forums. He said it was easy. When I was looking into buying an R230, I saw a few overall tired cars. The ceiling under their glass tops looked remarkably scruffy, with sloppy rolling blinds. If I were to swap my steel roof for glass, my first concern would be the ceiling.

I have one with the Pano roof. While it is kind of neat to have, I wouldn't pay $1500 or more in used parts to convert one. It is one of those features that looks great on the lot, but you end up never using. If there is sun to enjoy, the top is down.

I agree I have 2 of them, although the one my son drives year round has one and he likes it.
