center channel distortion, how to disable / remove?
I heard what sounded like an electrical surge in the audio system and now the center speaker puts out a bunch of distortion. If I move the balance all the way to the left or right there's no distortion. How do I disable the center speaker? Is it hard to access it? (I have an '09). I saw this post in the R213 forum where it's pretty easy to access the speaker but I won't assume it's the same on R230s:

I don't have a photo handy but Harman Kardan sound system claims 5.1 capability and I listed to a DVD-Audio disc one time just for the heck of it though I guess it could be mixing down to not use a center channel.
BUT I hear sound coming from the upper dash that is distorted and when I moved the balancer all the way to the left or right (which seems to turn off the center speaker) I don't hear any distortion. If I was just fading between the left and right speakers I don't think the distortion would act this way.

My sound system is Harman Kardan which is shown on the speaker grills. I hate Bose and made sure not to buy an earlier SL that had that. It's also mentioned here on the MB site:
