I bought an R230 500 and am sorting out small but annoying issues!
I am stumped on the radio as would like to be able to run my iPhone music through it (broadcast radio is rubbish or full of adverts!). However, the included radio has no USB or Bluetooth connectivity.
anybody know a cost effective fix as am looking at thousands or load of rubbish replacements to date?
Assistance would be enormously appreciated!

We pulled the stock radio and added this - problem solved!
For a double-DIN head unit like the Kenwood, you'll need an adapter kit like this one.
How important is radio reception for you? Kits like these have adapters for the antenna connection, but they don't work very well because of the way the factory antenna system is designed.
Just knowledgeable. I've been building/installing my own car audio systems since the first day I got my drivers license. So almost 40 years. Also into home audio and professional/live music systems.
Basically an amateur musician/audiophile/technophile/car nut by night, software developer by day.
Your 2009 SL63 uses a fiber optic audio system. You will also need a converter module to connect your new radio to fiber optic.
No idea about your 2009, but on my 2004, to make the fiber optic converter work, I had to remove all "extra" fiber optic modules such as the obsolete telephone, SOS system, any CD changer and such. This required extensive disassembly of the interior of the car.
Still absolutely worth it as I don't care to drive a car far without Apple CarPlay. I never listed to radio so that lack didn't matter. Same with Satellite which was no even an option in 2004.
Hi
In my R230 2024. I have been running with both an radio transmitter plugged to the cigarette lit as well as a built in Bluetooth connection.
Radio transmitter is very easy but the sound quality is much lower. Also it is really hard to find a frequency where you are not occasionally interrupted by real radio broadcasts and get locked into that.
I did not install the Bluetooth module myself so don’t know how to about that part. But sound quality is good.
