Phone Included?

Is a phone handset included in the SL600 price for '05?

YES IT IS on the 2005 SL600

My Dealer told me at the time of delivery it was NOT INCLUDED, even though as we read it from the online brochure and the printed brochure it seemed to be obvious it was included. I called MBUSA the next day and they promptly agreed it was included and contacted my dealer and told them that exactly. I haven't received the handset yet due to new technology coming out which is supposed to be available this month.

The SL600 do get a phone. You will not see a phone option will you build your SL600 at www.mbusa.com. Many of the SL600 owners in my area did not want the current phone technology installed because the phone will not work in my area.

The V600 GSM phones are out as of last week. My dealer is busy installing the GSM V600 phones. Several of the 2004 SL600 owners are very mad because the new Mercedes V600 phone will not work in the 2004 and lower models. The 2004 SLs have the D2B wiring system and the 2005 SL have the MOHST wiring system.

We can install the current V600 in the older SLs. We can also install UHI systems, which let you use a variety of non-MB GSM phones (much cheaper than the MBUSA-labeled phone).

When we took delivery of our '05 600, the deal sold us a $500 phone/cradle set-up. I was reading the catalog yesterday which shows that the Motorola V600 is included as standard equipment.

I phoned the today and was told that it was not included. I spoke with other dealership who've confirmed that the phone is included. Who can confirm?

The SL600 definetely comes with a phone at no charge. I have the NETSTAR printout which is the Mercedes Benz computer order and confirmation form and on it as one of the options it says "handset credit" which means the handset and cradle are credited for you in the base purchase price and you get them for free.

If you bought a SL600 and your dealer did not give you the V600 for free, they ripped you off.

Called MB in New Jersey and they confirmed that the phone is ncluded and will contact the dealer. She indicated that if I did ot receive a call by Monday then I should return her call.

The person who I talked with at the dealer was arrogant. I asked him, "So, you're saying that the catalog is wrong?" He paused and replied, "yes." I then called three other dealerships to confirm becuase I still hadn't heard back from New Jersey (She wanted to make sure that she had the correct information) and they all told me that the phone is included. Shortly thereafter, I got the call from NJ. I left a message with the sales guy and now I'm just waiting to hear from the dealership.

If you can go to another dealer, ask to speak to sales manager and owner. Tell them that you will issue a compliant against their dealership and report them to the BBB. Do all that after you get your phone install. Also report them to MBUSA for fraud. That dealer did take your $500 bucks for a phone that was already included in the price of the car.

One question here before we encourage you to go to war with your dealer. Is the phone they offered you the V600? I am not certain if it were another phone that you may have requested that it might be not be totally for free. The model that comes free is the V600 which is a GSM phone. Is that what you got?

WIldcat465,

You have a choice between the V710 or the V600. The V600 is for Cingular and the V710 is for Verizon. The V710 is not out yet, but the V600 came out last week in my area.

So what phone did the dealer install in your car?

Dealer installed a V60 in the car.

I got a call from the dealer's customer anger mitigation department today. She finally explained that a phone should have been included with my 600 and that they would send me a check in the mail. Had I not been so persistent, I would have been screwed. I've also asked that they remove the V60 and replace it with the V600 once it arrives.

What amazing to me is that people at the dealer and at MB in New Jersey did not understand their 2005 catalog which reads, "Hands-Free Communication System with voice control for . . .telephone . . .features. (Requires accessory telephone handset and cradle, sold separately or included on SL600. See dealer for selection)"

Pretty clear, huh? Except that they kept trying to says that that "sold separately or included" really meant that the dealer had a choice to included it or not. I told them to look at the Netstar printout and the brochure and it couldn't be any more clear.

I explained to her that I'm in a market for a CL600, but I'm waiting to see if they follow through on their promises (another thread) before I consider purchasing another car from them.

I purchased the V60 and was told that the 600 is not yet available and may never be.

Your dealer has no idea of what he is talking about. I have my V600 Mercedes phone and cradle and activated it yesterday. It works perfectly.

I was told that only two phones work/approve in a 2005 SL which are the V710 and the V600. Also I was told that the phone is included in the price.

I would write a letter to Mercedes Benz about your problem. Once you get a response letter, show it to the Sales manager and owner.
