Our SL buddies may get Bluetooth soon
After I paid $1,995 for a MB phone and car kit, I discovered that a Bluetooth PSE would be out soon.
Below is the response from EIS.
Thanks for your interest in our products. We will offer a bluetooth pse
for the s500 in a couple months. The first vehicles will be the d2b
based fiber optic equipped cars so knoung your model year would be
helpful.
Best regards / Mit freundlichen Grüßen

They will have the web sit updated with Mercedes stuff in about 2 months. They told me that there system is working in a 2004 s class.
You are cracking me up! Reminds me of that M&Ms Christmas
commercial
where the M&Ms see Santa and they both faint saying "They do exist!"
You have stumped me with your most recent question however. So, let me
contact the engineer and find out the answer to that. I will get back
with
you as soon as he let's me know.
Much thanks for the chuckle!

Michelle,
So you are a real company not working out of someone
home. Will the system work with the Command system in
my 2004 SL500. In the upper corner of my command
screen, I am able to see if my phone is roaming.

Does your car have a phone cradle? Someone said that the command only picks up blue tooth devices like headsets.
Please read these posts.

Mbz has a multi-year contract with Motorola on the phone to offer the configuration available currently available in the US Mbz automobiles. Only when that exclusive arrangement expires will we see USA bluetooth automobiles from MBZ. Unlike the current Motorola arrangement MBZ makes no money on bluetooth.

My euro comand had at one point "BlTooth" or something option in the screens somewhere. It is just not offered in the states. Mine is dissabled, since I dont have the hardware. Nothing you can do OEM wise to make it work from what I gather.. solutions are coming.

what kind of hardware did you need for your euro command work with bluethooth? I understand that the command are the only hardware needed for that.

No, there is the actual bluetooth module of some sort. Might be built into the unit, I really dont know. My COMAND only had the software, no hardware. I beleive there is a problem getting anything to work through MB - as no one will resell the parts or something like that. Any aftermarket BT solution that comes out will most likely not interface with the COMAND that well, if at all. Steve (MBenzNL) has been working on something for a while.

We've had Bluetooth available for Mercedes since about one year ago. See pics on the site:
http://www.mbenznl.com/products/phones/uhikit.shtml
The fact is that Mercedes Bluetooth doesn't do what most of you want, which is support any Bluetooth phone. That's because there's no way to support "any Bluetooth phone" and with a Bluetooth connection, you're not getting the benefit of the car kit, you may as well just use a Bluetooth headset.
