Is there a way to cycle through radio station presets from the sreering wheel controls or do you have to punch each individual preset on the face of the radio?
Is there a way to turn off the bell reminding you to "remove the key" every time you open the door? With keyless go i never have the key in the ignition and that bell ringing gets to be a nuisance.

No, there's not, and don't listen to what anyone tells you.Originally Posted by 1440

Same for the second question.
If you would like further information on these two topics, please feel free to use the "search" function in the menu near the top. This will show you the numerous discussions about these "features" that have occurred (albeit on other models, but the idea is the same).
I believe there are even current discussions right now in the CLK area (radio presets) and E-class area (keyless go beeping).

Try this...
Using the lower left steering wheel button, cycle through until your current station is displayed on the right hand instrument cluster. If you leave it there, you can then cycle your presets with the upper left steering wheel button. The upper right button will still control volume.

It worked that way on my 2004 SL55.
Finally, now that I have tried it, it works that way on my 2005 SL600.
Scorchie, it is too early in the day to be drinking.

I agree that 2003-2004 it works, and always has... but in the 2005 release information... it says it doesn't work, and to expect customers to complain about it.
Sorry for the confusion...
p.s. you're SURE it's going through your presets?

I just checked and you are right. It is not the presets. What it does is that it goes to the next station but it does not go to presets. When I saw the channel change I assumed it was the presets as in my previous cars but when checking in more detail, it does not do the presets it just goes to the next station.
Maybe it is I that needs that drink.
Great catch scorchie.

Glad you checked! I was thinking that all those extra mods you put into your car made it work better than the others (which actually, I wouldn't doubt).Originally Posted by LovinSL600

I just checked a 2005 SL500 which just rolled off the truck (pre-PDI) and it does not do presets either!

Has anyone located an AUX jack on the '05 COMAND? If you look at the M-B Germany site, it says there are two AUX jacks. I'm looking for a way to plug my iPod into the system-- I'm not happy with the quality of the sound from my iTrip.

Jackstraw,
In my 2004 SL it is in the glove box wall close to the center console. Go here and this may work for you.

I had to go into the setup menu and change the setting from search to preset. The default setting is for search. If you look in your owners manual, it will explain how to do this.

I remember reading this article where some guy in Mercedes Benz Germany said they were eliminating some 600 items on all Mercedes cars that people did not need. I am not sure I like some of them. Originally Posted by scorchie

So far this is what I have noticed has been deleted from my 2005 that the 2004's had. Anyone got more?
1. No memory interior rear view mirror
2. No heat and a/c air burst buttons on the middle of the dash.
3. No tilting right outside mirror on reverse.
4. No presents on auto use in center of instrument cluster.
5. No Ipod jack in glove box
I bet there is more.

We have known for months that there is no AUX jack in the glove compartment on the '05. I was just asking whether an AUX jack existed anywhere on the COMAND, hidden on the back of the unit somewhere, that some clever person could access and exploit.
When I first questioned the service liason about the absence of the AUX jack on the '05 back in August, I was told that it would be incorporated in the telephone interface. I still don't have my @#^&$#% phone, so I don't know if that is true. Do you have an AUX jack on your phone interface LovinSL600?

I just looked at the 2005 telephone documentation and it doesn't mention anything about an aux jack... it does include voice control though!Originally Posted by JackStraw

I think because the COMAND is similar to the S-class, that there's no aux jack. I'll look at the wiring...

This might explain why the German site said there are two AUX jacks. I don't envision watching TV while driving, but would consider the TV tuner if this would be a solution for my iPod as well. Any thoughts?Originally Posted by scorchie

I also checked by Satellite Radio and that too does not do the presets.
BUT...going through the instrument cluster I did find the back up right exterior mirror which default setting is off. So, that function has not been eliminated as I first thought.
Hope this helps.
