SL/R231: Auto seat

I'm going to assume you aren't referring to access behind the seat and are looking for a more comfortable ingress/egress, but need to be up closer to the wheel and pedals to drive.
I don't know of anything automatic, but nothing to stop you from programming seat memory position one to move the seat aft and into the position you like to enter and exit the car and seat memory position two to where you like to be positioned to drive. Almost as easy as automatic.

That feature was available in the old SL. When opening the door, the seat would move and the steering wheel went up.
It could be set in the center cluster as off, steering wheel only or steering wheel & seat.
I had it set to the last setting but it never worked since I am 6'3" and my seat was too far back to activate the seat movement. Same for my wife.
So on the old one you had to shorter with the seat further forward to actually notice it.
On the new SL, only the steering wheel adjusts (easy entry/exit). They probably found out that it was working for most people due to the default seat position.

The easy entry only raises the steering wheel. My Corvette's sest goes back when I open the door and goes forward when I put the key in the ignition..
What I did in my SL was to set the seat position to the rear. I raised and retract the steering wheel and saved it to memory.
You have to hold the button until the seat is in the desired position. A small pain in the butt.

They may have changed the system for less knowledgeable people - like a friend of mine who had a CLK with that function and kept turning the car in because the seat would stop partway....unless the Service Advisor asked him if he was starting the car and putting it in gear before the seat got to the driving position - causing it to stop so it wasn't in motion when the car was being driven.

I think I'm convinced now to just use seat position 1 for my choice, and 3 for the seat to go all the way back as that"s the easiest for me to exit-thanks for your help!!
