Great looking George! I'm in So. Cal also and I also had a 3 series convertible (2010) which went off lease when I leased my SL550 Obsidian Black.

 

Took my breath away. On a Monday morning or Friday night how the heck do you ckoose one over the other! If I can't own them thanks for the pleasure of just looking at them

Sticker was $119,140 and I rolled a unit at $100k. Dealer swapped with another dealer so I got the color and options I wanted. My last SL was new in 1989 so I was more than pleased with the pricing and the difference the 6th generation offers.

I love your photo of your pair of 2013 models of the M-B SL550 and the BMW M6 convertible. Around this time in 2012, I had just returned from Stuttgart as part of the MBCA Trip to Germany and was starting the negotiations with my local M-B Dealer about various discounts on a built-to-suit 2013 M-B SL550 for a May or June 2013 delivery date. In Jan. and Feb. 2013, I test drove a 2013 BMW 650 xDrive Coupe, followed by a 2013 BMW M6 Coupe. As much as I liked the SL550, its vastly improved interior and amazing speed, I really did not want to sacrifice the ability to put a golf bag into the vehicle, let alone a reasonable amount of luggage for two people for a weekend trip. As you know, the storage space in the SL550 is extremely limited.

As an AMG owner, I was very impressed with the improved acceleration and speed of the new SL550 over the previous model. But by comparison to the BMW M6, along with its exhaust sound, as well as the larger amount of storage space, I decided to go with the BMW M6. If you are interested, here is a link to a thread I started on another auto forum blog that I subscribe to where I describe the purchase and delivery and include photos of my 2014 BMW M6 Coupe in Alpine White exterior and Sahkir Orange full leather interior, this past June at the BMW Performance Delivery Center in Spartanburg, SC.
