Help me make the choice PLEASE!
SL 400...two color choices iridium silver w/bengal red standard leather or Diamond white w/Nappa bengal red. I'm a guy..silver seems more comfortable, Diamond white..a little effeminate. Ugh...please give me your thoughts. Both are really nice though.

however I have a diamond white SL550 with white interior and I love it, for me it's a great color, easy to keep clean, also silver seems to be much more common around here, seems like every other MB you see is silver
in the end it only matters to you

This post has several nice pics of silver with red interior if that helps you choose. White is not feminine and the Diamond White is very nice. I didn't choose silver because, as stated above, there are so many silver Benzs on the road.

Having said that, since OP needs help, IMHO the "tie breaker" is the interior - there's a significant difference in feel of napa leather vs. regular one. So since both interiors are the same color scheme and there's a "tie" in exterior color, the place where one spends most of the time is the one that counts the most.

If the white pearl reads "feminine" to your eye take a pass. You may grow to love it or once the novelty of the buy wears off you may always have some regret. Personally I love it on an S Class but it wouldn't be my choice on an SL. The SL already looks more cute than tough given its size and proportions. For a guy it needs a "tough" color IMO.

From the interior standpoint, Nappa is the way to go. That's what you see and feel when you drive.
Statistically, 50% of all SL's made are silver. I like the white, but only in wam weather zones (CA, FL, TX, AZ). Silver works everywhere, even in the winter/snow.

I have designo nappa leather in classic red / black with red stichting and steering wheel is also an option in 2 colors.

SL400 especially early in 15MY was easy to get in silver. There was a good supply of SL63 as well, but not SL550 (it seems that most silver SL550 went to CA, while most (diamond) white - to FL).

I am totally stunned at the number responses to my request. Thanx, they have been very helpful. Of course I am no closer to making a decision, but at least I have some things to consider as I make that decision.

My 2009 SL550 is diamond white, and my 2015 SL550 is polar white. I love both, but definitely prefer the polar white for its purity and its color stability over both metal and plastic surfaces. (If you look at a diamond white car and compare the front bumper to the hood, you'll see a marked difference in how the paint looks.) I've had tons of compliments on the 2015, from men and women, about how good the car looks and how good I look in it. I live in the rainy PNW, but have my top down 90% of the time. Thank you, global warming.
I also have the Nappa leather, which is wonderful compared to the std leather and well worth the cost.
