What have you modded your SL with?????

i just cant help it............

My Mrs moans like hell

But i just like tinkering with my(her) cars............

What is worth doing to the SL to "pimp" it up a bit...??

The only thing i can find to fault it with at the moment is some wheel spacers to give it a better "stance" and fill the arches......

But what have YOU bought and where from??? that improves the general car

Ours is 2 weeks old and is the new 367HP 2016/17 model SL400(UK) or the SL450(USA)

Max

Here is what I have seen (or done)

1. Wheels, spacers as discussed.
2. Lowering. Sport Springs (H&R, Brabus, etc.) or Links, Electronic lowering module for ABC
3. Sport exhaust (rare)
4. ECU tune. Can deliver a lot more power but may not give you big increases in speed. Will probably be a nice upgrade for the SL400, but on the 500 traction is an issue. (Lots of places in the US. In Europe look for Brabus, Kl.eemann and Carlson).
5. Possible wrap or blacking out the car (rare)

That's about it. The car is pretty nice as is and it's easy to diminish the SL with the wrong mods.

the Brabus site doesnt seem to offer any SL400 goodies.......... just for the SL550 upwards.

I have just bought a spacer set anyway.......... 10mm front and 20mm rear........

You may want to contact the local Brabus dealer near you. Since your car is a new model it may not be posted yet on their website. Here in SoCal there is a Brabus shop in Irvine. 949-229-1770. Ask for Andreas. Cheers. Shot

You asked what people do, not if it's a good idea

No need to lower a Euro model, that is already at a decent height (US models are riding higher for unknown reasons).
The engine is relatively new but used in many MB's, so there will be ECU tunes coming up in time.

I love the Blue color as well but like practical colors. We already have a black S-Class which looks dirty the same day it's washed. Our SL is a classic Iridium Silver and the car still looks great even when dirty. After all, this is the car we drive the most

I'm home from France on Sunday........... so i'll get it on some level ground and post up some measurements of tyre top to arch - for a comparison. I lowered our 335d about 6 years ago - and regretted it!(hence the no thanks!)

The good news is that while i've been away, Sue has been out playing in the M3........ and has fallen in love with that again.......... so she won't be hogging the SL all the time

Our M3 is Interlagos Blue(slightly darker than Brill Blue) - and we're both very much liking it. Hence buying the similar colour after having had the M3 for 5.5yrs in the same colour
