SL/R231: Certified Preowned question
I am going to be buying a certified pre-owned sl550.
Is there paper work I need to get from the mercedes dealership when I buy it? It is advertised as CPO and it's mercedes dealership - but it is also 4 hours away.
I want to make sure I am covered by the CPO warranty.
It is a 2013. So I am assuming I will have coverage until sometime in 2018?

The CPO qualification @ a Mercedes Dealership really attracted me to purchasing my '14 ML350 BT 4Matic. In the past when buying a used vehicle I'd always pay a Dealership to perform a "Pre-Purchase Inspection" normally in the $500.00 Range and not to extent of the CPO Inspection. I'd ask the Dealership to Print and Sign the CPO Inspection results while also citing it in the Purchase agreement, i.e., pass CPO Inspection IAW.........The attached was the Dealer's response to my request when first looking at the vehicle, they provided a fully signed (by all parties) in the delivery documentation. Not sure if your vehicle type would have a different version. Hope this helps.
I was also told by the dealer when my seat covers were being replaced (under the manufacturers warranty) they would be considered wear items and as such not covered under the CPO warranty if they failed again.
He includes the topics…
CPO is not a separate class from New or Used
CPO warranties do not include lemon coverages
CPO and other used cars do not need to be odometer verified after 10,000 miles.
I don’t remember if it was him or another poster who pointed out, for almost all cars 30,000 miles is the cutoff where the value drops precipitously.

It would be reasonable to expect any powertrain issues are covered. But you may find inconsistencies between dealers as to what is covered. For example, if the retractable windscreen pulls loose will they fix it? If an ABC strut leaks will they replace it? If the roof hydraulic system fails will they fix it?
