My impressions thus far: I am really loving and enjoying this car! So far, I only have very positive things to say about my new '18 SL550. It is gorgeous, very sporty, very comfortable, loads of fun to drive, and the torque is totally awesome! I really like all of the neat and cool safety features included in the Driver Assistance Package! The build quality is absolutely amazing! Not why I made the purchase, but Cardinal is really getting lots of looks and compliments! I had never thought I would be able to own an SL550; so, I have been on cloud nine since December 21st, when I brought her home! Thanks again to those of you that gave me valuable advice and offered welcomed opinions along my journey, which included me deciding on colors and equipment options, making my order, and then tracking her until she arrived at the dealership! Just had Cardinal spruced up by my detailer. Photo was taken by my detailer at his shop, which is his personal garage/residence.

what a great thread for any SL-enthusiast to read, so I'm happy to put it the top of the list for a bit. I have come to believe that there is no bad color combo for this car, à chacun son goût, but how different the OP's car is from the gray/black combo he originally ordered!!

‘19 G550 driver here but I’ve always dreamed of having an SL for the weekend, so I occasionally snoop on this thread for fun. Kinda bummed that they’re getting rid of the hardtop after 2020. That being said, this color combination is absolutely gorgeous. One of the best I’ve seen. Love the cardinal red with the porcelain interior!!

We have two homes - for a time had three - none of which has a usable garage. When I first started SL shopping in early December I saw a beautiful 2013 SL550 that the salesman pointed out had "obviously been garaged", unlike my CLK550 trade. We weren't able to come to terms that day, and I decided to rent a garage spot for the winter about 5 miles from home, from which I would sell my car and store whatever SL I bought till spring. By mid-January I sold the CLK on eBay (that's a crazy story for another day; spoiler alert, don't accept PayPal for full payment!), then it took me till mid-March to come to terms on the SL400 (same color combo as that first SL550), and after a week or so in the driveway I put it back in that garage spot during one overnight storm that delivered an inch or two. It's probably an irrational goal but I'd like to keep snow from ever touching my SL, as I can only wonder how much nicer my CLK might have looked had it not endured 6 New England winters outside.....
