Sprint Booster V3

I just installed the latest version in the SL. I will not talk about the drive by wire improvements because they are controversial. However, it has two nice features. Valet mode and pedal lock mode. The pedal lock mode disables the accelerator in L mode, and requires the user to enter a three digit pin to lock and unlock the accelerator pedal. If someone tries to remove the device without the pin, the car's accelerator pedal will be disabled for 35 minutes. In valet mode, labeled P, the car's gas input to the engine is limited: the engine output is therefore 55,65, or 75% of normal. You can pick from these percentage settings and it also requires a pin to enable/disable this function. I think it is a nice couple of add on functions and the device is such an easy install. In our cars, it requires removing two plastic bolts to the left of the accelerator pedal and one electrical connector. The unit hides well under an aftermarket driver's mat and is easy to operate. If you come from Essex County, New Jersey, you know how handy this is!

I have the SL63 AMG but installed the Sprint booster within a week of owning the car. Just so much better of a driving experience. Would highly recommend this to all owners of either SL!

Yes, I totally agree! When I got the SL, the pedal has a long lag time ( feels about one second) before engaging the throttle. Now it just takes off. I also like the valet and brake lock feature. I guess people think this is a gimmick, which it is not.

Well! If you like watching the Subaru take off a full second sooner, it’s fine with me and the WRX

Nice for the WRX if it makes him feel good but he is still only driving a Subaru not a MB

True but you just got beat by a Subaru. HOW DOES IT MAKE YOUR FEEEEL! HAHA! HE JUST CALLED YOU AN OLD GEEZER . Your car has 540 horsepower and 610 torque ( tuned- and reliable) If you like people to think the SL is a slouch, fine with me. I will tell you after they get beat off the line, the come back and say “WOW did not know an SL was that good!” It is a fantastic car with great performance. There is a guy who has a AMG SL 63 on this forum who does 10 second quarter miles- hats off to him. If you prefer others not to have respect for your car and the brand, OK.. Why don’t you step on the pedal and see how long the turbos take to spool up from a standstill? I had a Subaru in college and medical school-the stock pedal is not like this.

I don't lower myself to racing them. I know my car is faster, Mr. Subaru knows it is faster and I have nothing to prove -- I never criticised your choice to install a sprint booster and was making light of the reduced horsepower options ...keep your shirt on!! :-) we are all friends here.....

It is not lowering yourself to go to one stoplight. Besides, if you go to the track, you will be driving against all makes. A lot of cars there will have the same attitude about you (cost a lot more). In Cali, they call the SL the "yummy mommy car going to yoga." If that's what you like the car to portray, so be it! And yes, the SL does well at Pocono at the open track days (helmet, instructor, 3-laps without a cage).

Your choice mate....I'm secure enough in my manhood not to care what people in California call me or my car. I don't need a gizmo for stoplight racing to make me feel "bigger".

Once again....I never criticised your installing a sprint booster. I light heartedly commented on the options to reduce HP which at max setting (55%) would still leave a SL550 with 300hp which is way more than most cars on the road.

I am going to look at the Sprint Booster for my wife's B class as the take off response is really crap and it needs something.
