Extended MB Warranty
Question - If I purchase a car thru a non MB dealer, but car still has new car warranty until 4 years / 50 k miles, will MB give me an extended warranty or do I have to purchase thru a non MB warranty service?

Any updates to all this amazing treasure trove on CPO v. ELW ? I am now pondering the decision and it will be nice to know that’s there are no significant changes to what is in here since it was last updated.

As I understand it, only a MB authorized dealer can CPO a used car, but any Mercedes vehicle whose factory warranty has not expired is eligible for an ELW purchase. You can buy one from any Mercedes dealer and the cost varies widely. For the best price contact Jeff Jackson at MB Louisville or Cassandra Castro at International Autos Milwaukee. I don’t know if you can ELW after the CPO term is up.

Hi All, have a question regarding the CPO extended warranty, hope to seek some answers from fellow members.
I recently purchased my AMG GT with 3 years of CPO extended warranty - the car is a CPO (first sold at 2017) where it states there is a one year CPO warranty after original warranty expiration (1yr/unlimited miles).
The extended warranty states that it can be cancelled with full refund prior to the original warranty expiration (2021 Aug). However, if I cancel the extended warranty, will I also lose the one year CPO warranty on the car?

MB warranty products, services, ELMs, 15% surcharges
Good morning.
I thought that many of you may be interested in current information regarding the purchase of Mercedes-branded extended limited warranties (ELMs), and other Mercedes-branded coverages, and other Mercedes-backed warranty products for our cars. This information specifically relates to new vehicle finances and purchases. I'm not aware if this information affects leased vehicles.
1) Any Mercedes Benz-approved warranty product, whether it be the Mercedes First Class Wheel and Tire, Prepaid maintenance, ELM, or other, SHOULD be honoured at any certified Mercedes service centre. There appears to be misinformation that such services in the past would not be honored if you don't purchase that particular coverage where you obtained your vehicle. I encourage people to get clarification on this point. It doesn't make sense that one would pay for a Mercedes-certified coverage, from a Mercedes-certified center, and then be denied access to that very coverage.
2) There is no longer any 15% surcharge for purchasing ELM and similar products after a period of 15-30 days after you get your Mercedes. In the past, that appears to have been a negotiable item for those of us motivated enough to try and save the $$. However, at this time, no dealership should be trying to stick you with a 15% surcharge for waiting to purchase extended coverages. Hope this information helps!!

The factory warranty on our 2017 SL 550 expires in early June. I am beginning the process of getting prices for the MB extended warranty so we can make a decision of whether or not we feel it is worth purchasing.
There are a couple of folks suggested in the previous posts that offer discounted prices for this coverage. Has anyone recently purchased an extended warranty from someone else who I should contact. Thanks.

Read the BBB complaints against this company before you buy their policy. Lots of exclusions so, if you think your car is "completely covered," think again.

The bad reviews on BBB are under different circumstances, something like a straight out of factory warranty Mercedes, straight into a full coverage extended warranty leaves no room for hesitation of coverage. There are obviously different levels of coverage that can be purchased, but I only recommend complete full coverage warranties because again, there is no hesitation or confusion when it comes time to using it. I havn't had anyone have an issues using their full coverage policy with any dealer or mechanic.

Take my advice, please. Do NOT buy any 3rd party aftermarket extended warranty. I can almost guarantee you will regret it if you ever try to use it. There are exceptions but they are grossly outweighed by bad experiences.

I agree not all are created equal, but the extended warranty from your MB dealer is not from Stuttgart, but through an internal or third party, and the Mercedes Dealer has put their name on.

Correct. The policy is underwritten by a 3rd party but it is approved and honored by all Mercedes dealers and shows up when a dealer services your vehicle. This is not the case with any other extended warranty.

I don't want to argue, with the policies I have issued, full coverage on Mercedes, they have taken their cars to whatever Mercedes dealer they choose, and had their warranty work performed at no out of pocket cost. These are not some $1,000 policies, most are between $3,000-$5,000 where as the MB would be another $2,000-$3,000 more.
