SL/R231: Top not going down/ trunk sensor?

2003 SL55 / 2013 SL550
Top not going down/ trunk sensor?
I just got a used 2013 SL550. When I got home and tried ti put the top down the instrument panel said trunk was open (trunk not trunk partition). I opened and closed it a few dozen times, still said it was open and would not allow me to put down the top.
Any idea why?
Is it an easy fix?
Can it be bypassed until fixed?

In the past there has been a lot of posts on bad limit switches for the trunk divider and top on the R230 forum. You might want to try there if nothing comes up here.....

THanks for the suggestions. So far still broken, still no idea why... Have an appointment with dealer on Wednesday, they said it could be anything and they have to take the whole system apart... so yeah. Any suggestions are welcomed.
