2018 SL550..How to load USB or SD cards to HDD Media
Background:
I have no problem loading CDs into my HDD but can not load tunes I have captured via "a Tube Catcher" on a USB or SD card.to the HDD
With a 2018 SL550 can USB or SD s be loaded into the HDD and if so any idea as to why I'm having an issue?
I can play them from the USB or SD card but, can't load them on the HDD like I can CDs
Any help?
Steve

I had one in my SLK but I'm pretty sure there is not a HDD in my SL. Two USB ports - 1 for Smart Phone and one for iPod etc and the SD card? I no longer have CDs so cannot even try!

My 2018 SL550 does in fact have a HDD as I am able to load CDs or DVDs
BUT
I can't get it to load USB or SD songs I have recorded wit "a Tube Catcher"
Anyone got any ideas as to why the CD and DVD loading into the HDD OK but USB or SD card loading being rejected?
Tx for any help
Steve

Same here, cannot download anything other than CD's to the Registry. But I have about 1,600 songs on the SD card and they work quite well. Also understand it has to do with copyright laws.

Apparently ALL 231's, (2013-2020) have a Music Registry HDD for music storage), although I suspect most owners have never actually used it.
My own 2013 SL550 also came with a built-in 6-CD changer, so I haven't found any need for the additional music storage as of yet. (I listen to Sirius Satellite Radio almost exclusively). I also know that the 6-CD changer was dropped soon after the 2013 models, so newer 231's do not have a 6-CD Changer. Because of that is the HDD is being more widely used for CD music storage now? .
I'm curious to know if others here are actually using the 231's HDD for storing CD's, DVD's, and/or other music media sources . Do you think the 231 Music HDD is very under-utilized by 231 Owners as I suspect, or so you think use of the HDD is more widespread than I imagine it is?
I am really curious to hear you thoughts and comments, including any personal experience you may have with the 231's HDD Music Storage System.
- Do you personally use it?
- Do you think that most other 231 owners are now aware of the HDD and currently using it for music storage now?..

Agree with bob55, as my 2013 sales brochure shows the Registry as standard. And I do use it, downloading music directly from CD's; in conjunction with my SD card, the Registry provides hours of music, and can be set to shuffle playback or move straight through artists / albums. Here is a photo that may assist in locating that function: in the Command screen, select Audio, and this is the drop down menu that you will see. From there you can maneuver through each selection to either play, record, or download. But music is all that I have ever used this system for.

I just uploaded up a couple of cd's worth of music into it last weekend and will give it a proper try soon. It took my Dark Side of the Moon SACD as well as a mix cd that I put together.

Mine 100% does not have a HDD. 2xusb, 1xsd, 1xBT, 1xCD but the screen pictured above also looks different to my SL. My SLK had a screen like the one above. Might be the facelift R231 does not have the HDD.
