Cleaning Porcelain Seat Belts - HELP

Greetings All
Am the happy owner of a MY17 CPO SL63. The only blemishes with her are the discolored Porcelain Safety Belts
I’ve tried cleaning with Resolve and also Shout
No luck
Any success you can share to clean these is greatly appreciated
! What an automobile, by the way !
Thanks. Steve

I’ve never had any luck cleaning seatbelts and gave up a long time ago, when it was highly recommended not to clean them, as it may weaken them. As it turns out, replacing them is not an expensive option and I feel is the best way to go.

This is the best way to go. There is a real risk damaging the weave with chemicals.

And actually, with that beautiful Porcelain & Black interior, I would go with black belts. Never another problem.

Final Report - after watching numerous DIY YouTube videos from "Detail Pros" I decided on the following cleaning procedure: applied GoJo hand cleaner directly to the belt and then using a super-soft (aka, worn out) toothbrush lightly scrub. Do both sides. Let sit for 10+ minutes, then with a white cloth towel wipe off excess. Protect all surrounding areas with towels. THEN, steam the belt with clothes steamer ($20. version on Amazon). Dry with a clean white cloth. Allow sufficient time to completely dry (several hours) before retracting back into position. This took all the stains out of the belt, and much of the edge darkening. It's not perfect, but it's 80-90% back to original color. With no edge fraying.
As an aside, my wife has a GLS450 with the light beige interior and it has black seat belts, matching the black dash ... MB chose widely there.

@iridium18 Now that I've just acquired an SL 450 with the same Porcelain interior and slightly dingy belts, I'll be giving this a try. Which of the (multiple) GoJo versions did you use? I see Natural Orange Pumice, Original Creme Style, Original Pumice, etc. It seems that the ones with pumice would be a bad idea because this would leave abrasive particles in the belts that over time would weaken the fibers. So I'm assuming it was the Original "Creme Style"? Let me know if you can -- thanks!

John - I did in fact use the original cream style. I will mention that the belts stayed "dark" for many, many hours due to the trapped moisture. I set a fan in place and had the belts extended held by a clip from retracting. After completely drying they did lighten up to my surprise actually. Much better than when I started, but not back to original condition. Good luck with yours. Steve

I haven’t looked lately, but don’t seat belts still carry those warning tags, that cleaning the belts may weaken them? The last time I checked, replacing the belts was not an expensive proposition, so why not just go with brand new, black ones and be done with it? Just my two cents worth.

I guess I should just buckle down (pun intended) and call the dealer for a price to do that. I tried researching it online and the "opinions" were all over the map -- from "not too expensive," all the way up to $500-600 per belt. (Which I guess might still be "not too expensive" depending on your perspective.) :-)
