Air Vent Issue - Common Or Not?
Hello, I have had an issue with three out of the four round air vents on my 2014 SL550. The vents don't move around smoothly and feel like they are scratching against plastic, and require a bit more force to move. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and is there a fix for it?

Maybe it’s just me but I have adjusted the vents on every vehicle I have ever owned the first day I drive them and the vents remain in the same position for years until I sell them.....

It's not just you....I fiddle with the vents in each vehicle until they are where I like them and never touch them again.

Same here but then a passenger adjusted them and noticed it. Then I noticed that the driver air vents did it too.

More Air Vent
While we are discussing air vent issues. I have a 2017 550SL. When my fan is on the highest possible setting I am getting noise out of the vents that sounds kind of like there is some obstruction in the air path inside the dash. As soon as I lower the fan speed to one level below max the noise goes away. Anyone else experiencing this? I am due for service in November and plan to have the dealer look at it. If it is present in all SL's probably nothing they can do about it. If it's just me, likely there is something in the air path that needs to be removed.

Mine move beautifully. These vents in my SL are my all time favorites.

If you want them to rotate smoother try squirting some graphite powder into the mating surfaces while rotating the unit at the same time. You can find it at Wally World where they sell door keys or in the automotive section. Comes in a tube with pointed tip. Do NOT use any liquid lubricant in that area.
