Do Germans Have Pointed Heads?
Tried all four of my sunglasses in the holder above the windshield and none fit. Does the holder only hold expensive glasses with the MB logo?

They fit regular frame sunglasses fine but nothing like Oakleys

That tiny overhead compartment holds 'spectacles only', no sunglasses will fit!...
I have found that my regular prescription (clear) eyeglasses fit in the upper compartment, but no way will my Maui Jim Kahuna (curved) Sunglasses fit in there!.
I keep the latter in the lower cup holder compartment that is located just forward of the shift lever. . (Just be sure to place your sunglasses with the lens side up)
I suppose the good news is that the cup holder compartment lid still closes just fine with my sunglasses inside. This allows my MJ's to remain 'out of sight' when not in use!
I suspect other brands of sunglasses will fit inside the cup holder compartment in much the same way that mine did. Give yours a try!

Apparently the Maui Bratwurst line of sunglasses has not hit the German market yet....
Since none of my sunglasses fit in the holder but the size and shape are correct I guess I can use it to store a Texas sized Doobie for my first Fall top down ride.

However I find it useless as well. I gave up buying expensive sunglasses as I have lost too many pairs and my cheapo UnderArmour sunnies don't fit either.

They are glass though so can be repaired.

It is a trade off - I've been through several pairs of RayBans, Vuarnet, Randolph (my favourites) etc and have found that if you leave them somewhere they never get recoveredbut& nobody wants the cheap ones. However, there is a noticeable difference in lens quality.

read the article about State Senator Joyce. I believe the Randolph sunglasses scandal was the beginning of the end for him. ultimately they found he was shaking down his dry cleaner and other businesses in his district. he lived a stone's throw from me and after he was indicted and waiting for trial, he hid out about 55 miles away in the town where my summer house is. he was eventually found dead of an overdose, intentional or accidental is anyone's guess.

Oakley makes a perfectly "pill Like" fake Carbon fiber case- it will fit your larger sunglasses then just use the rear cupholder as a holder- works perfectly on both my SL and my F150
