The Perfect Set Of Accessories For Your SL....
Thought I would save everyone some time for Christmas and just list some cool accessories to make your SL unique. You can just show the items to loved ones and their shopping chore is done! LOL

These were my personal choices for 231 Accessory items: We all have our own preferences when it comes to what we want 'in' or 'on' our cars! There is no 'one perfect set' of Accessories despite what the thread title suggests!...
You're probably familiar with an old Christmas song entitled 'The 12-days of Christmas'....Well, as it turns out I counted (12) accessory items that I have acquired for my 231, I suppose it's just a coincidence that I have (1) for each of the (12) days of Christmas, but then again, maybe it's a sign that I should share my accessories list to help spar(k some shopping ideas as we approach the Holiday Season.....
While you won't find a 'partridge in a pear tree' in my list of accessories, you will see the accessory items that I find worthwhile in conjunction with my 231....
1 -- A (non-logo) Chrome 'Slimline' License Plate Frame - (MB Accessory Item)
2 -- A set of 4 (MB Logo) Valve Stem Caps for Tires - (MB Accessory Item)
3 -- An (SL Logo) Cargo Area Tray - 231 Trunk Area - (MB 231 Accessory)
4 -- A 12V Air Compressor (w/gauge) - Stored beneath the trunk floor of my 231
5 -- An (MB Logo)Towel - (MB Accessory Item) - Also stowed beneath trunk floor
6 -- An (MB Logo) LED Flashlight - (MB Accessory) - Kept in Center Console
7 -- 2 (SL Logo) Umbrellas - (SL Accessories) - For both 231 Umbrella holders
8 -- An (SL Logo) Behind-the-Seat 'Fitted Bag' - (230 Accessory useful on a 231)
9 -- Two (MB Logo) Chairs w/ carry bags - (MB Accessories) - Outdoors/Beach
10 - Two (MB Logo) Slotted Seat Towels - (MB Accessories) - 'After a Sweat'
11 - Blanket inside MB Logo carry case - (MB Accessory Item) - Beach/Picnic
12 - Folding Sunshade for Windshield - (MB Accessory Item) - Kept in Trunk
You may even wish to add some of these same accessories to your Christmas List!...

No, I assure you that's NOT the case Utopia!...(No trailer required),...
In fact, virtually every item I mentioned in the list is rather small and therefore very easily stowed completely out of sight!...
There are only a few exceptions, (i.e. iitems kept in my home until actually needed for the car). For instance, I only carry the Behind-the-Seat 'Fitted' SL Leather Travel Bag when going on an out-of-town trip in my 231, and I only carry the (2) Folding Camp Chairs (which are inside carry bags), when I actually expect to need the chairs for some type of outdoor event, (such as attending a Golf Tournament for instance). BTW, these folding chairs fit very nicely inside the 231's trunk with loads of trunk room to spare)....
A similar scenario applies for (2) folded Seat Protection Towels with headrest slots for securing them to both the driver and passenger seats. Those are great for protecting your 231's seats from sweat, sand or dirt, after you've been exercising, playing Golf, leaving the gym, returning from the Beach. . While these slotted seat towels will easily fit beneath the 231's trunk floor, I don't keep them there since they usually will get washed after each use. I then just keep these towels in the house until I expect to need them again for 231 Leather Seat protection....
All the other accessories that I mentioned, (and not already installed on the car), is stowed completely out of sight. (Either stowed beneath the 231's trunk floor, or in the case of the LED flashlight, inside the center console)....

Well rmorin49, other than the occasional deals offered by the Mercedes Lifestyle website, I don't know of any on-going discounts for the accessories I listed. However, if you set up a password at the MB Lifestyle Collections site, you will occasionally receive discount offers and notices of any 'special sales'....
One normally has to pay 'full retail price' for any MB accessories purchased directly from an Authorized MB Dealer, but it's possible that your local MB Dealer could send email discount coupons occasionally, just as mine does. I receive discount coupons from my local MB Dealer every few months, usually for a routine maintenance service, but occasionally I also get one that can be applied to MB accessory gift items from my MB Dealer. Frankly, none of the accessory items I mentioned in my list are particularly expensive, so I'm confident that 231 owners here will find most of the accessory items I mentioned to be very affordable.....
Perhaps the one (expensive) exception is the (no longer available) behind-the-seats SL Leather Travel Bag. It's a high-quality 'Fitted Luggage' Black Leather Bag that I purchased years ago when I still owned a SL500 (The 230 Series SL). Indeed it was a 230 Accessory, but just as useful if used with the 231. I occasionally see a (used) SL Bag pop up on ebay, and it will usually sell for more than the original MB price. These Bags are indeed rare now, but highly desirable. Hard to find to be sure, but I bought mine back when you could still get them directly from Mercedes-Benz as an MB accessory. I think I paid around $265.00 for the SL Bag brand new, and think some people would consider that an 'expensive' MB accessory item. Tis a real shame it's no longer offered as an accessory, (for the 231), because IMO, it really should be!...

Our local Mercedes dealers provide a 10% discount for any parts and accessories purchased by a member of Mercedes Benz Club of America. They apply this to a travel mug, or a set of filters; so that may be an option for you to pursue.

Silly me, but I had already 'just assumed' Utopia drove around with a huge set of Longhorns adorning the hood of both his 231 and his F-150 Truck!....
Makes perfect sense for a proud Texan, doesn't it?...

I can’t decide which direction to go on the SL!
PS- Too many oil wells in the front yard. Wouldn’t want to look like I am showing off!

I do not usually place any advertising or bumper stickers on any of my vehicles but made a exception this time. Chemical representation of what my SL gives me. LOL
Any chemistry majors out there have a guess?

Also decided to change out the center wheel hub caps to red to match the paint on my SL. Have applied two coats of clear enamel and will install tomorrow,

Finally added the Mercedes logo to the Command knob and cup holder inserts with red accents.
