Recommendations for Dealerships North of Atlanta

Anyone had unbelievably great experiences at a particular dealer in the north Atlanta area?

Woah...sorry to hear that. I was hoping that, even if I don't buy my CPO car from any of the locals, I would be able to find a good dealership for any of the service that I can't handle myself. So, where do you go for service on your E63?

Service and sales are two different things. I tried two dealerships around me and they both provide adequate service. Expensive, but relatively good, with loaners and MB 'appropriate' level of service.

When we lived in Atlanta, we did business with RBM of Atlanta. I would rate them an 8 out of 10 based on that experience; they have simply gotten so large by the time we moved away from the area.

I live in Atlanta and have used RBM, Mercedes of Buckhead and more recently, Mercedes of Marietta. They are adequate for warranty work but as soon as it's out of warranty I use a local Indie. No frills, no loaner but damn good mechanics that tell you only what you need and when you need it. I have no affiliation with them but it's Ed's MB Medics on Atlanta Road in Smyrna. Between my wife, kids and myself, we have 5 Mercs in the household so I think it's fair to say I have some experience. Haha. Good luck.

I called there the other day to arrange a test drive of a '17 SL450 that they have for sale. The guy I talked to told me to "come on down". When I got there, he refused to let me drive the car...because it was raining! Now looking elsewhere...

I had something a bit closer to home in mind, but thanks just the same.

To be fair to the guy, I had made it clear to him, while still on the initial phone call, that I had never sat in or driven any SL, and just needed to do so to confirm that I fit and to find out if I liked them enough to continue my pursuit of one. When I got there, I found the car sitting in the middle of the showroom with it's top down and a big Christmas bow on the hood. The car had 22k miles on it, but top to bottom (and underneath!) it was indistinguishable from new. So, upon reflection, I now understand why he was reluctant to pull it out into the rain to take a "joyride" with someone who did not want to purchase it. He did call me back a few weeks later, on a cloudy-but-dry day, to ask if I had driven a car yet...so I went back in and finally drove the car. It was very nice, but did not have ABC, which I had also explained was my only "must have", so we parted ways. I did learn enough that I'm still searching for the "right" one.

I have a contact at RBM Alpharetta if you'd like me to pass along his info.

I'm probably going to end up having to travel for this car. I asked the guy at RBM Atlanta if he does searches for guys like me and he said they don't do that, which I understand completely. I guess Mercedes has that function available on their site so we can search for ourselves. If something shows up locally though, I may shoot you a PM. Thanks for the offer!

You can do it very easily and efficiently yourself using Autrader and search as large a radius as you want, up to nationwide.

That's what I did. Located the car via MB CPO website, did some due diligence via CarGuru and CarFax on the car background and set up the purchase process. The car was a MB lease return that had lived in the Hamptons for three years, and had 14K miles, and all the service records. We live just outside Nashville, and the car had been purchased from MB Finance by the dealer in Bentonville, Arkansas. We drove over, picked up the car and drove back the next day. So I was able to get a) the color combo that I wanted; b) the options that I wanted; c) and a sterling price as CarGuru showed me the car had been on the dealer lot for almost 90 days, with two price drops, which helped in my negotiation. With the CPO process to back it up, we have encountered zero issues on any needed service work at the local MB dealer. So you may have to travel to get the car, or you can have it shipped; but I would encourage you to put your hands on the car before final acceptance, as there have been at least one on this forum who have had challenges with purchasing site unseen. Shop on! Hope you find the vehicle you seek.

This is what I've been doing. Nation-wide searches on both MB and AutoTrader, though with my requirement that the car be CPO, I haven't seen anything on AutoTrader that didn't also show up on MB. I go through the list at least every other day, and while there are currently four SL550s w/ABC out there, I haven't seen a 450 so equipped in a few months now (I've ruled out black cars altogether, so there may have been a few cars that I never saw). The search continues. I'm almost regretting not biting the bullet and ordering a new 450 while it was still possible...but not quite.

Did you see the one in Chandler AZ? Listed as 2017 450 Grey/Crystal grey with ABC.

Is this a CPO car at a Mercedes dealer? If so, I don't why it hasn't shown up on the MB locator. I see a silver/bengal in Tucson and a cardinal red/brown-beige in Scottsdale, both without ABC. Nothing of any spec in Chandler...

Who knows? Go directly to MB of Chandler’s website - it’s there.

Sure enough, there it is! There are four whole pictures of the car, and 23 pictures of the dealership and other stuff. I wish they had included some shots of that interior, as I'm not familiar with the light gray. I'll have to email them. Thanks for the tip! By the way, how did you find it? Is there something that I'm not doing that I should be?

I am also looking for a good contact in a service department of a north Atlanta dealer. Bought a CPO car from Mercedes of Buckhead and they're about the dumbest group... So if anyone has a good advisor they could hook me up with, I'd appreciate it.

No, I must have just caught it right after it was listed. It’s on both mbusa and Autotrader now.

After I looked on the dealer's site and clicked on the CarFax, I saw that the car originally came from San Diego. Then I noticed that you're in So Cal, and that you have a new 2020 SL...forgive me for wondering if perhaps it was you who turned this one in.

No, I’ve driven a 450 but wouldn’t own one - much prefer the 550.

Here is a 2016 SL550 in Minnetonka MN with 17K Miles on it, and it has ABC. Might be worth a look: https://www.mbusa.com/en/cpo/invento...9277?zip=37069

Thanks, but looking at facelift cars only. See...perhaps I have too many constraints and that's why I'm having a hard time of it No black, no V8, etc. It's so frustrating that I've actually been checking out the V8s more and more, and I really don't want a V8. The 450 that allfortheunion pointed out has the expensive ABC option, but only the base interior package. Also, with a gray exterior I would really prefer a red, saddle, or brown/beige interior. Everyone's been great to help me out like this, and I appreciate your patience.
