SL/R231: (Miniature) Model Upgrade




Disassembly of the model was not easy. The biggest challenge was disconnecting the steering column from the tie rod. Prying the door panels off the doors and removing the dash assembly were also difficult but thankfully I managed everything without breaking any of the plastic parts.
So here are some before and after photos. I think you'll appreciate the detail on the instrument panel. The tach, speedometer and map display are plastic inserts but buttons on the number pad, steering wheel and temperature controls are painted. Note the door handles and the side mirrors. The acrylic paint is from Tamiya Color, XF-10 and XF-57 (via Amazon.)
I have a model of almost all of the special vehicles that I have owned and I am pleased to have a model of an SL that pretty accurately reflects my ride. See what you think...
