OMG, Best seats ever

I know some of you bigger guys have issues with the SL seats, but I have been experimenting with the massage and heat settings as I am going to the golf course in the early AM and I am blown away by these seats. At 74, my lower back is always stiff and sore in the morning so using the heated seat feature is a regular regiment for me, but adding massage makes it even better. I am now wishing my Stinger had the same seats, although the Stinger's ventilated seats do work better for cooling.

We recently picked up a 2019 E450 Wagon and the massage seats in there are a quantum leap over the ones in my 2018 S560. Believe it or not, the massage is actually in the LOWER seat cushion as well as in the back rest. But I agree on the seats in the SL, they are great for an older design.

You may already know this, but just in case...you can also concentrate the heat in any area you choose through the seat control menu.

Yeah, it is referred to as balance, which I needed help figuring out what that might be.

My son has the new E53 AMG and that interior (but dark colours inside) also does not float my boat. The shiny plastic looking stuff looks cheap to me. They also have an Audi Q7 (just trashed in an accident and to be replaced by a Q8) and I really like the Audi interiors.

Well, that trim option, described as “Designo Black Piano Lacquer Flowing Lines WOOD Trim” was $1,300.00. What “plastic” are you referring to?

Doesn't matter what they call it. It looks like black plastic to me! If it looks like polished wood to you great!! Our tastes all differ & so long as you are happy with the look great! You'd probably hate my interior.

People do have different tastes, but going out of your way to publicly trash another person’s choices DOES make it personal, and contributes nothing useful to the forum.

Oh thanks for your opinion - I'm sure he is a big boy and can look after himself. Anyhow, the way he goes through cars, he will have something different in a few weeks. I was expressing an opinion and made it clear that it was my taste that was the issue. I simply do not like the 'polished wood" look. That is not trashing what is a very nice car. My son has an AMG E53 and it is a fantastic machine - he has the same black wood and I told him the same thing......he shrugged, it isn't personal.

I assume by “he,” you are referring to me? I had my 1979 450SL for 7 years and my 2004 SL500 for 12 years. We had our 2010 E350 for 5 years, our 2016 E350 for 5 years and my 2018 S560 is going on 3 years old. Even the SL is over a year old now. I usually lease my new cars for 3 years and then get a new one. “A few weeks?”

Consider "few weeks" as a "figure of speech" and tongue in cheek....not meant to be literal.....(unlike our teenagers -- I mean like, literally, like it was like literally unreal, I mean like.....)

7 years, 5 years, 5 years, 3 years, 1 year, ......I see a pattern......

I've spent most of my working life working with folk from the USA and never thought that they were sensitive about a bit of banter.....

I forgot that you live on the other side of the pond—in a country separated from the USA by a common language.

I was born in South Africa but spent a big chunk of my life working for USA companies (e.g Bechtel, Fluor, Exxon Mobil......). I like the work ethic and "can do attitude" of Americans (people from SA are similar).

I am not a fan of piano black wood but I appreciate that others like it and that the product is well executed (in terms of quality). It annoyed me to no end in the past when some people called our S-Class interiors cheap looking just because they were too clueless that lacquered wood could be real, thinking it would be just plastic.
I prefer polished wood over Mercedes matte wood options although some brands have fantastic matte options.

So, rorywquin, the plastic reference would bother me as well

Side question for Streamliner. Is the center console also wood in the E-Class with the Flowing lines interior? This has always been an issue with the E-Class that MB used a plastic center console with certain trim options (like metal weave). That plastic scratches just by looking at it...

I’m not sure what the center console piece is made of, but it is all black, no flowing lines. I would have preferred the Burl Walnut trim, but the flowing lines are growing on me.

FWIW I have the flowing lines in the new 2020 E and also had it in the 2017.

EVERYONE (note caps) comments that it is stunning...everyone @ my dealer as well so much so that they are ordering spec cars with it !

I have the tan/black leather and always get comments and my dealer also ordering spec cars with that interior combo.....gets my dander up because I was unique and no longer am

So.....bottom line....I'm happy and others here seem to agree.

Regardless of difference in taste in wood trim I think Rory has good taste (example his choice of the "correct" trunk spoiler (he has the best/correct look IMHO

"Plastic"? Poor choice of words.

Personally I think MB executes this detail very well. Quite elegant and IMO a definite step up from the matte wood trim that seems to be the rage.

@Streamliner @Wolfman

I'm from South Africa where we speak our mind. We do not intend to be offensive or insulting, we are simply straight talkers. It can be tricky because it sometimes offends people who are not used us. However, once you get to know us and realise that we have the same "can do" & honest attitude, you realise that we are just being truthful and not trying to butter any cracks or be false.

Apologies if anyone feels offended. As mentioned earlier, I've worked most of my career with USA citizens and always found you guys open to direct speaking & honesty.

What words would you choose?

How would you describe "highly polished shiny black wood" that looks like plastic? Please convince me that the black wood in the pictures posted does not look like plastic materials.

I had a C Class 2020 model as a loaner last week and really liked the matte black wood look.

As I was careful to mention before - it is all down to taste.......I'm not saying your's is good or bad - just different.

Didn't know there is anyone more direct than a German, so no need to explain yourself
Not trying to beat a dead horse. I have no issues people hating or disliking things; that is normal and I would expect no less. But in my example of S-Class wood interior, I am fine with people hating the look or disliking colors, design, etc. but if they say it's fake wood or plastic, their opinion just became irrelevant to me.
