SL 550 Air vent replacement
I have a 2013 SL 550 and one of the air vents is broken and needs replacement. There is another another air vent that has an issue similar to the one described in this post.
Is there any instructions anywhere on how to replace the air vent? I found this YT video
describing how to take out the air vent in another Mercedes that looks similar, but don't want to end up breaking the housing by accident.
The one that needs replacement is one of the center ones next to the Command screen on the right, not sure if the ones on the outside are handled differently than the ones in the center.
Here is the part # I'm looking at: A1728300154

Just an update for anybody that views this in the future....
I was able to get the air vent out. Just like the video, it has a little hold inside of the vent when you can put something in to pull back. I put a hook style pick tool in the hole and pulled pretty good. Came on out with some force, pull straight back towards you.
Here is the correct part number for the center passenger side air vent A2318300054

Hi! Yes we did end up selling our SL - great car. As far as the vent goes, I remember it being very very similar to his video. Our model was a Pre-Facelift R231 (2013 MY) and I believe it did have the little holes inside the vent. I would get a really good flashlight and look for it - shouldn't be too far/deep in the air vent. Similar very much to the video I had linked in my original post.
You could even feel around with the pick tools very carefully inside of there and see if it falls into a little hole. Similar to you, I didn't feel particularly safe in using the structure of the center of the vent to pull it out.
