Bubble on rear deck
I've developed a bubble on my rear deck where the leather is lifted up. See picture. These look like speaker covers. If they're easy to remove I can fix this myself. How are they removed? 2013 SL550

Have same problem with detachment of vinyl on passenger door at top edge. Getting it repaired by upholstery specialist. He said MB adhesives frequently fail in our climate of temperature swings.

Would now be a good time to ask WHY so many members here refuse to state their LOCATION? I mean, we’re not asking for your address, but just knowing if someone lives in Alaska or Arizona, Maine or Florida or in New Orleans or International Falls just might help us give some constructive advice. Perhaps the OP lives in Saudi Arabia, we just don’t know, do we? The OP’s car is now EIGHT years old. Has it been garaged every night, or left outdoors? Is it left out in the Phoenix sun every day or has it been subjected to Louisiana humidity for eight years? Did he buy it new or used? If used, where was it sold new? I know we would all like to think that these cars should stay perfect forever, but that’s just not the case.
Please guys, tell us WHERE you live. I promise not to TP your house.

I bought the car used this summer with 14,200 miles on it. Carfax shows it was sold by Mercedes Benz of Miami, and every service prior to me owning it was performed by Mercedes Benz of Fort Lauderdale. So, it's a southern USA car. I have no idea whether it has been faithfully garaged all its life. I certainly garage it every night. I have never refused to give my location. I live in the mountains of north Georgia.
Still looking for help on how to access and remove this cover so it can be properly fixed. There's a used one on eBay that looks to be in good condition, but I would still need to remove the present one. So, I would be better to just fix this one.

Like several others here, I cannot tell you how to remove the piece, but would bet that the Florida climate and the amount of time the interior was exposed to it, played a big role in the issue surfacing. Best of luck fixing it.

I added my location after your post. I’m still hopeful somebody will help. I see from one thread about adding the rear speaker amp that the rear cowls pull off with some effort. What I don’t know is if removing these fully exposes the mounting bolts to remove the cover. I’ve got a local person who works on classic cars and he’s offered to try to fix it. I’m hoping to have a little more info before turning it over to him.

Good luck with it, your local person will definitely fix this since he is probably very well aware about the Florida climate and the effect on "some" cars. I've got a quite low miles LS 460 from there but nothing like that, maybe mine was all the time in a garage and yours outside....

Look at the photos in this thread, as they may be helpful. It’s in this forum, just a few threads down:

Interior shop ( a good one) may be able to re-glue that using a syringe to inject glue in there and use some weight to press it down. It’s not too bad and in that location, would be conducive to that type of repair. It would also be the cheapest route if you’re not doing the labor & sourcing parts yourself.
The alternative is to R&R the panel. All the interior rear panels must be removed to access the bolts for the rear panel, which will be costly…
You can see how it’s mounted. See pic of the “rear trim panel”. 2316902501649H15 (black)
