All the added options via the original purchaser but no???

Hello all...

I have the build sheet from my car that lists all the options it came with. I have always liked reviewing that list after a car purchases, because the owners manual always lists things you may not have. Anyway, the original purchaser selected some pretty nice and costly options that I am grateful for, because I enjoy them all and would have selected the same such as...

Magic sky (really like this)
Lane assist.
Park assist (really like this too)
Upgraded seats, etc. etc.
AMG 19" wheels, etc.
Upgraded wood trim steering wheel (which feels really nice)
Heated massage seats
Upgraded leather
DVD player
on and on....

But what I can't wrap my mind around for the life of me is that they didnt want a heated steering wheel??? I just can't fathum that choice. I have looked and there is no heated steering wheel button on my car. I guess I never though about it before, because it was summer time and I didn't need it when I purchased my car. 90% of every car I have owned has had a heated steering wheel, even some basic models and brands.

The only things I can think of is since they got the upgraded wood, maybe that wood can't be heated? Or they might have been doing pretty well in life to buy this SL as optioned new (over 100k) and they had other vehicles to drive and may have said nahhhh, we don't need a heated steering wheel, because we won't drive it during the winter and will only drive our so and so??? Maybe they didn't see the value?

Anyone else don't have the heated steering wheel, but feel like you should??

I do not believe a heated steering wheel was available on the 2013-2020 SL models.

Heat not available with wood wheel

I gave up on heated wheel when I ordered the 2018 as I like the wood and don't use the SL much in winter anyway

Have heated non wood on my daily driver 2020 E35 that is used yr round

I checked and a heated steering wheel was not available on the R231, with or without the wood/leather steering wheel option. Another example of how MB ignored the 2013-2020 SL’s.

Agree, especially with top down on a cool day. Air scarf is great but a heated steering wheel would help also. Its the only feature my wife feels is lacking in the SL.

I feel ya. My former 09 E350 had a heated steering wheel and seats. I am not the driving gloves type, so that is also not an option in the SL

I was looking for the heated switch on my 2020 550 SL yesterday when the temp dropped into the low 40's, then i remembered it is not an options as on my 2015 G Wagon. Also noting the other comments, the remote start is not an option on the 550SL - I confirmed with MB as i was told when i ordered the car, it was available with the app - not so! You would think for 120K you would be able to get remote start and a heated steering wheel and while i'm at it ...........rear speakers that work!

And, my 2018 Ford Transit Van has WIRELESS Apple CarPlay, but my 2019 SL450 doesn't. The music in the van sounds great, playing through the regular, factory system. In my SL it is painful to my ears.

I was driving yesterday with the top down and the temp was 42 degrees. Air scarf and heated seats worked really well to keep me comfortable but as you mentioned my hands were cold. To have that overlooked in a convertible is absurd. MB truly did not care about this car, I feel like they looked at it the way Ferrari looked at the cars from the late 70's to the early 80's. Make the car and people will buy it because of the name. It's still a great car but you are reminded whenever you drive that MB gave up long ago, especially when you see the early 2000's stereo and the total lack of features present throughout the rest of the MB lineup.

Enter your VIN at lastvin.com to see a list of equipment on your SL if you are curious.
