120k Service time

Hello all,

It is time for the dreaded 120k service. I only say dreaded because of the cost. Mercedes says its about 2k, so I am now looking for a good indi to handle it. Anyone have a solid indi in MD or DE to refer me to???

Thanks in advance....

My 70k just came in at $1400 at my Indy last week so I feel your pain. He charged me book rate time , so it was about $900 in labor. Ouch.

Yep. Ouch. I don’t expect it to be cheap, because they do a lot of important fluid stuff at 120k, however I do expect it to be cheaper than the dealer.

Yep. I had all the fluids done, etc. Luckily the brakes were fine! I think 70k is the “big one” like the 120k…

I needed to get the car to “stage zero”…now I know everything is fresh and I can take care of some of it myself moving forward to save a little cash when I can…

A good Indy is always a good way to go, you at least get a better labor rate, but sadly the parts are still the same!

Good luck!

I can see that my breaks are still fine, plus I’m going with the low dust pads whenever that time comes.

Let me know what you end up with on those…the OEM pads are I know good on rotors but man are they dusty…there has to be a compromise out there…

I swapped out my OEM pads with carbon ceramic Powerstop pads immediately after I bought it. Big improvement, probably 90% less dust.

Don't hate me, but I have swapped out my factory pads with Dynamic Friction 5000 Euro Ceramic pads from www.RockAuto.com. Part numbers 1600-1688-00 for front with the Sport Wheel Package and 1600-1689-00 for the rears. They have been great. Virtually no dust and no excessive rotor wear. I know these aren't well known, but they are a great buy and work at least as well as factory pads.

I'll check those out. I just ceramic coated the car (and wheels) and will see how easily the dust cleans off. The PO of the car apparently had no clue how to wash, wax or anything, so I am slowly bringing it back (NASTY scratches on the black paint- I think it was a lease at some point, so there you go) The wheels got some neglect, with a lot of the brake dust and grime imbedded in them in places, so at this point I'm just trying to not make it worse. Will probably get them refinished at some point by a pro- the faces are machined, so just painting won't cut it!
