SL/R231: How to change ABC dampers
Got an ABC error message in white colour, pressed ok and it disappeared. Fluid level is ok, no noises. Message did not yet come again.
But I experience a very hard drive if it is switched to sport or comfort. So I guess the pressure went down when I was going over a pothole and the might mean that the rear accumulator is finished or even weak (might have lost some hydrogen already).
Did someone already replace it? I think it should be located in the left rear wheel housing. But question is, if it is possible to change it without removeing the comlete valve block where it is attached to.
Anybody an idea or even access to WIS having the instructions how to do it?
Would appreciate a lot,
Regards,
Micha
P.S:. Found a picture of the Front damper. But how to hinge the valve block so that I can change the damper without removing all the hoses?
And whats about the rear damper? As I think that is my main problem....

And...the ride is very hard. I cannot see any difference from Sport to comfort but ok I have no other SL to compare.
Maybe it makes sense to go to the dealer and read out the error message but I think it will not bring much more information on ly costs some money. This is why I thought, changing the rear damper could not be wrong in my case....

Micha

As always, the best course of action would be have the car scanned with XENTRY….
Mileage?
What year is your car?

you car also might want software updates
When ABC starts messing, best is a big serious service, that way you won't have another little part messing up in a few month's
You will know that it’s failed as the car will ride differently and you’ll feel a vibration on cornering.
I think it was a $2k fix.
