Ticking Noise 2013 SL63
Hello guys and Happy New Year!
I have a ticking noise at my slightly tuned SL63 that increases with the engine revving and doesn't go away after engine warms up. It could be lifters and I came accross Liqui Moly Ceratec and Liqui Moly Hydraulic Lifter Additive. Any experiences?

One would think that it would be a little early to see lifter noise, especially on a well maintained vehicle, but anything is possible.
Chain tensioners can be loud too and early cars may need updated tensioners and check valves.

Its worth noting that Motul 8100 eco-lite 5W-30 is not on the approved list of motor oils for the M157.

I have tried different viscosity oil to diagnose lifter noise in the past. I personally would try a thicker oil on the 229.5 spec list, especially in a hotter climate, to see if it changes the amount of noise. Easy and cheap to try.
I’m not a fan of additives as a fix, but have read of others having some limited success with Liqui-Molly. In the end better to find the true culprit and repair it.
Good Luck

I’m very happy with motul excess in the proper weight. It’s either that or the proper liquimoly approved product and Mobil one at the very back. As mention above, these engines are clicky. In terms of check valves and tensioners, my13 e63 with the same engine needed both check valves and updated tensioners on both sides. There is no clear date as to when Mercedes actually had internally made this change as it was progressive over years. This quieted the engine startup noise which I only occasionally had, but have not had since. For reference, my car just sat for weeks in the cold blast in the US and started right up without drama.
good luck.
good luck.

Had same noise on ‘14 222. S/A found solution on Xentry ( internal tech bulletin for MB). Search 222 forum years 2014-2015 for solution. Also ask Konistiger here on 222/223 forums. Nothing to do with oil.

I read OP's noise complaint as a "constant" ie noise from IDLE to higher rpm's
"increases with the engine revving and doesn't go away after engine warms up."
vs
LI54.18-P-060706"The noises can occur at approx. 1000-1800 rpm between 0 km/h and 70 km/h."
None the less worth checking into as "ticking" can be subjective, especially on the internet
