Hello All!
Super excited to be here! I've been an SL fan for as long as I can remember, and finally got my first one last week. "Lola" is a 2017 SL450 in Brilliant Blue. So far the only mod I have done is to install the Carlinkit 4.0. I had wired CarPlay from the factory but I use Android. The Carlinkit 4.0 has done the trick, and now provides wireless AA! Albeit on a rather small screen LOL.
Lola is my 72nd car and my first Mercedes Benz. I've owned a lot of very different types of vehicles from Sports Cars to humble family haulers and a few SUVs. Corvettes, Miatas, Camaros, Trans-Ams, Porsche ('74 Targa) and Becker "356 C" replica. In the SUV world, my favorite all time was my '87 Grand Wagoneer that unfortunately was destroyed in Hurricane Irma in 2017 (we lived on Cudjoe Key at the time). Many, many other cool cars including vintage Volvos and SAABS. I just love CARS, CARS, CARS!!!

Reason: add photos
Questions: With all those car purchases not a single Benz model? I find that curious, because most MB owners I know and have seen (not all) move up in models over the years as they enjoy the brand, but you never owned a MB prior....
I'm curious why not and what made this SL the first?? Shortly you saw the beautiful R230 back in the day and that didn't sway you?
2015 SL400 (M276 Turbo), 2014 C350 Sport (M276 NA), 2004 SL500 (M113), 2004 Audi TT225 (BEA)
Let's hope you keep this one a little longer!
I had a 1981 Volvo DL wagon (245 series) that was one of my favorite cars. It was Baby Poop Yellow. That was before Ford acquired a controlling interest and ruined Volvo in my opinion. But at least they didn't destroy the brand like GM did to Saab. Damn! That was 43 years ago. No way I'm that old!
MickKauffman,
Spectacular car, great pix, and welcome to the forum.
Trying to find Ormond Beach to see how close it is to where I used to live in Florida.
Okay, I see it now.
I graduated right down the road.
I don’t want to say when.

Welcome and congrats. What a great color combo! Hope she's reliable and you keep it for a long time. 72 cars you say? Wow, I never actually counted my total cars, but suffice to say it wasn't that many! I probably had more like 25!
Welcome to the forum. Your car is beautiful, one of my favorite color combos. Hope you enjoy owning it as much as I have loved my SL400. Like you, I had dreamed of owning one of these cars for many years. The retractable hardtop feature is the best, but the great seats and generous sized trunk also are hard to beat in a car of this class. Be prepared for a lot of admiration and stares. I get comments about mine at least once a week.
Hi!
I guess I always thought of the SL as a luxury automobile rather than a Sport Luxury car. Also, everything that I really wanted, like a 1965 280 SL was already too expensive. I have had 72 cars, but a LOT of them were $2000 or under. Especially in the younger days LOL. Anyway good things come to those who wait and so I did, and now I have Lola!
2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...

My first Volvo was a 1979 245DL Stick with the OD button. I brought my newborn daughter home in that vs. the 1985 Camaro I had. The Camaro got totaled when a huge tractor turned right in front of me. I knew after that accident that I wanted my daughter to travel in a safer car. I destroyed the OD unit thinking I was too cool for school beating the heck out of her delivering Domino's Pizza at night. Back then I went to the junkyard and got a whole used transmission for $75! I was pretty proud of myself as I installed it myself. Unfortunately, I made one mistake with the driveshaft and installed it with the counterweights opposite of where they should have been. York Volvo took pity on me, and didn't even charge me to correct my mistake. Boy, those were the days when people cared more. After that I had an 88 245 DL wagon, an 88 740 Turbo and even a 67 122s Amazon Wagon! She was my favorite. Delivered a TON of Pizza for Grotto Pizza in Rehoboth and Dewey Beach while I was a struggling new 24-year-old Realtor. Only had one SAAB a 91 9000 Turbo 5 spd. She was FAST but finicky. The Swedes! LOL

Thank You! Looking forward to driving her to Ft. Myers Beach this weekend for our daughter's birthday. First "roadtrip"!

Thank You! Yes, my wife says I have a PROBLEM!!! LOL
My SL63 is my first Mercedes-Benz, too, though I had some experience with a friend’s SL500 from about a decade ago. Classy, comfortable, sporty - you’re going to love it. Beautiful color, too!
Thats funny that this is your 72nd car and your first Benz! Similar story - I’m up in the 50s including some flips and parts cars. Lots of MOPAR cars. I’d have made some really money with a few of them had I kept them longer - and a couple I should have never sold. Oh well.
40-degrees, top-down in the middle of winter. Gotta love it!

SL63!!! Wow! I bet she's a lot of fun. Beautiful too!
