Editing
Is it just me, or can we no longer edit posts? The edit button is no longer there. Funny, I see the edit button on this post, but it is not visible on a post I had from last week.

The forum backend can be set to expire the edit function.
Personally, I think it’s a little heavy-handed to have it enabled, but I can understand why an admin or moderator would do it.
I type a lot from my iPhone and a lot of times I t seems to have a mind of its own - it may be a couple days before I’ve realized that the autocorrect function has me appearing to be somewhat challenged.
If there was a way to perhaps lengthen the interval between enabled and disabled, that would be a good compromise. Perhaps a suggestion to make to the moderators?

Good points.
I just don’t catch typos as easily when on my little phone when compared to when on my computer. I guess I’m getting old lol. I hate looking at a post and seeing a typo I cannot correct.
I don’t remember the site being that way just a little while ago. When did they change it? Plenty of times I have went back and corrected something. I wonder what is the reason they stopped us from making edits?
At least we should be able to reach out and say hey, can you correct a misspelled word? To me that would be worse then us making the changes on our own, because they could get swamped with correction requests.
I’ll live with it, but I don’t think it has been that long since they made this change.

I have the Edit button for posts going back to November, at least. Is that what you mean? Or, do you start an edit and it times out?

There is no edit button option. (There use to be) the ONLY time I can edit is directly after I make a post. If I come back days later the edit button is gone. Posts from just last week I cannot edit. A search of old posts and I can’t edit them either. (I use to could)
I would like to see you go back to any post from Feb 2024 or older and edit it. (Put I edited this 4/3/24)so I know which one you edited. I think you will find that you cannot.

And here is from our favorite CarPlay sticky. That was almost two years ago.

Did you ever subscribe to MBWorld+ for $4.99/6 months? Don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Yeah that likely is it, because I hadn't subscribed. I can see adding new futures with a sub, but not sure about taking away things you already could do without a sub. I dunno..

Hmmm I never paid attention to this stuff but now that you mentioned it, I got curious and went back to one of my post. It doesn't let you edit a post from less than 24 hours ago. I wonder if the expire timer is within 12 hours? Or even just a couple of hours? Say 2 or 3? for non members.

Just to close the loop on the whole editing discussion, I was completely wrong associating the MBWorld+ membership with being able to edit. I heard back from a representative of the Internet Brands parent corporation and was told the membership has nothing to do with the ability to edit. So, I apologize for making an observation that lead to a wrong conclusion.
No further explanation was provided. So, if you want to know why you lost the ability to edit, I suggest you use the contact form and submit your questions.
