Size of MUSIC RESISTER HDD - 2015 SL400
Hi guys, I'm new here and checked the previous posts, but didn't find what I need. Does anyone know the size of the HDD in the 2015 SL400, or the amount of free space it has for storing music? I have a 40GB music library that I'd love to load into the car (Just because...)
Thanks in advance

I think it is 20GB, but it could be 40GB. If you go into the hidden COMAND engineering menu (hold down the #, 1, and phone hang-up buttons) I think you can access the HDD parameters.

Actually, mine is 10GB. You can check the size through the engineering menu or directly from the Audio settings.
Select Audio and then Music Register.
Select Memory Info.
Memory Capacity will be displayed.

Thanks JettaRed. I just checked and mine is 10GB too. I guess I'll have to buy a small USB drive or SDHC card.

Using the Engineering menu.
Press and hold #, 1, and Phone Hang-up on the COMAND console until the Engineering Mode screen appears.
Select 3. HU Information using the rotary knob on the console; not the volume knob on the radio.
Select 3.6 HDD Information.
Find (c) Size: shown in kb.

In JettaRed's last post it appears MBZ is using a Hitachi HEJ421010G9SAOO HDD. That's a 100 GB 2.5" HDD. I'm guessing MBZ has partitioned this into HDD1, HDD2, and possibly another partition for Music Register to use. Looks like HDD1 is approximately a 4 GB partition (3,822,496 KB) -- possibly using this for Nav (?). However, HDD2 looks to be a 60 GB partition (61,850,848 KB) and has a lot of free space available (approximately 27 GB). Do you know if there is any way to access this for Music Register storage or is MBZ limiting the size of Music Register storage to just 10 GB? I can't help asking. I was a tech guy in a previous life and like to get the most out of available storage.
Thanks,
Ozzie-95037

Good observations. I didn't scroll to the bottom to see if there is an HDD3.
When in the Engineering Mode, to change pages scroll to the bottom or top and toggle the rotary console knob forward or back to move to the next or a previous page. So, when in Engineering Mode, to exit you must toggle to the last page and select END.

***I did see a YouTube video that showed how you could download/upload "settings" but the user didn't think that would include the music.

Eddie -- I'm hoping it will be a simple task, but honestly, I've only had the car for a few days. At this point there is much more about this car that I don't know, then I do know. If I can't get past the 10GB of storage, I have a small sized 32 GB USB flash drive loaded with music in my Jag. I'll just take that out and move it to the SL400 to see if that works. The other thing I thought about is getting a 30-pin to Lightning adapter for the iPod connector and seeing if I can access my iPhone directly that way. May-be I'm over thinking things, but like I said, there's a lot more that I don't know about this car. At least not yet.

Ozzie, I've had mine for 5 years and only realized this summer that I can listen to my phone via Bluetooth! I did buy a couple of 30-pin to Lightning adapters; I don't even remember why since I don't music on my phone. I use the BT connection to stream podcasts.
